Carnival Magic Did Not Arrive till 10am

Boarding will be late today. Ship did not arrive until after 10, and people are still on board trying to disembark. I am sure there are a few anxious people who are about to miss their flights. That will be me next week if the same scenario plays out.

Major fog throughout the day yesterday and until about 7am this morning.

Now it is clear and sunny, but cool.

Ive read about this "fog" and the problems it creates. Is the fog a regular occurence throughout the year, or is it just a problem during January? We're cruising in April and Im gonna be annoyed if this fog creates issues.

This year has been really awful. We haven't had hardly any cold weather and when the dewpoint and the temp are nearly the same, you get fog! :( With that said, in all the cruises we've taken out of Galveston (quite a few in the last 10 years!) we've never been delayed due to fog. We were delayed once on Carnival due to a strong cold front coming through the Gulf that slowed us down on our return to the island. I've been delayed many more times at airports than cruiseports!

You have a number of reasons to be annoyed ...... whether you stay home, fly, land road trip, or cruise.

This year, with mother nature's jet stream being so far north,

and the US being affected by a La Nina weather pattern

in the Pacific Ocean,

the US is being affected in different ways all over the US.

The entire West Coast, Gulf Coast and East Coast can be subject to fog.

Fog is relative to mother nature and does not occur every day,

week or month, nor last for long periods.

Its occurrence is as varible

as the weather is each year.

This year is a La Nina Year.

Two years ago there was not a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.

If you are cruising one time out of Galveston in the winter,

your odds are very good you will not be affected by the fog.

It could happen though!

Things happen!!!!

My daughter was in Chicago a week ago,

with the snow

and had to deal with the complications

from the massive cancellations of air flights in Chicago and New york.

Complications for cruisers can happen also anywhere,

affecting air traffic and cruisers reaching their sailings.

Are we still going to cruise?

Yes, even if there is a chance you won't get out of Chicago or New york!

because of snow and ice.

It could also be a hurricane in the Atlantic affecting Florida......

and the entire East Coast and or Gulf Coast;

It could also be fog in San Fransisco or Tampa;

It could be fires, tornados, volcanos, or earthquakes;

It could also be a hurricane in the Carribean;

It could be a chemical spill on the Mississippi River;

It could be drought;

It can be Blue Northeners or Noreasterner storms from the north or northwest.....

causing havic and hazardous weather up in northeast.....

or hazardous weather all the way down......

to Florida on the southeast coast;

It could be strikes in Europe;

It could be on a cross country road trip in your car;

It could be ash across Europe;

It can be ice and snow on the east coast;

It may be distination port you can't get ino because of mother nature;

It could be airline cancellations and complications;

It could be an medical emergency of a passenger;

Yes you may get annoyed,

but the circumstances

are be beyond your control!

Make your cruise plans flexible.....buy insurance......

go...... and enjoy your trip.... :D

Patience is essential, attitude is everything.

A good attitude is the difference between ordeal and adventure!

Being happy does not mean that everything is perfect.

It means you have decided to look beyond the imperfections

of you’re expectations.

Besides when you get there:

Toes in the water, Ass in the sand, Not a worry in the world, a Cold Beer in my Hand, Life is Good Today!!! Zac Brown Band!!
