Can you take hard liquor onboard Splendour of the Sea?

This is our first cruise and we have read and talked to many people about what to expect. Can we take hard liquor onboard the Spelndour of the Sea? If so, it is best to put it in a carry on or in luggarge?:)

RCI does not allow you to bring liquor onboard. If you do, however, pack it in your checked luggage and use bubble wrap. You can also purchase liquor from their onboard shop at duty-free prices and pay an extra $9.50 per bottle to take it back to your room.

We just returned from the splendour two weeks ago and knew of the alcohol policy but chose to bring on some hard licquor, beer, wine and soda. We double bagged the beer and alcohol and packed it in bubble wrap and checked it. We had no difficulties.
