Halftocruz Posted January 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2012 I know this has been asked a few times and I have read the other posts. What my question or clarification is, if I book ES for the Breeze in January 2013 with 5 people in the cabin and then one cancels, what is the best way to handle it? We always book ES for the savings. So the way I understand it is: If we cancel before final payment then we lose $50.00 and the $200.00 goes against a future cruise credit. I'm paying for all of it. And we CAN'T add another persons name to replace them? Right? What happens if I cancel after final payment? Does travel insurance help in this situation as we buy that most of the time? The bottom line is they just can't cancel!!! Thanks for any advice.
LucyR. Posted January 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2012 Don't plan so far in advance for 5 persons because some of them might flake out on you. That happened to me and I got stuck paying the extra money for the teenager/grandson who was a no show. I know you want to save money and there might be a loop hole that you can use. But Carnival is always changing the rules to their advantage. The only kind of insurance you should buy is the one where you can change your mind for any reason. Expensive... I think other people here will have better advise for you. It's just that I got burned not knowing the loop-holes and my travel agent not knowing it either. Moz Posted January 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2012 We booked ES and also had to take out pre-existing insurance which we need. Unfortuntely we had to cancel when final payment was due but we received all of our deposits back from the insurance company and also the airline. Hope this helps you.
