Beachgirlohio Posted January 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2012 need some help! It is our first cruise and our first trip to Antigua. Our first port is Barbados and we are doing a Catamaran with Turtle with Calabaza and Day 2 we are doing a Private Island tour with Serenity (we think) with lunch at Ladera and a swim at Jalousie. After 2 VERY full days, thinking of doing a resort day pass so we can enjoy drinks, pools, and RELAX. The following resorts have responded to us on possible day passes. Hermitage Bay (waaaaay too expensive), Carlisle Bay, Sandals, Blue Water, Coco Bay, and Galley Bay. Our normal vacation style is luxury all inclusives but we have never been to Sandals. Can anyone give their advise on a resort that is not too far away but might be quiet and luxury? Thank you so much for your help!!!!!!

If you're happy to swim in the sea instead of a pool, there are several beach bars where you could while away the day rather than pay for a hotel day pass. swigso Posted January 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2012 The Hilton is a good option,it costs $35 per person, you have full use of all the facilities They even give you pool towels and lunch with a cocktail is included. The beach is lovely and the hotel has a nice pool area. The only small problem was that you need to use the restroom to Change into dry clothing when going back to the ship. The cab fare is $20 each way, but sometimes there's a mini bus going back Which is half the price. Sorry ignore this thought you were looking at Barbados
CarolRick Posted January 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Hawksbill offers day passes and they are a short cab ride from the port ($20 for 4 of us). The pass was $40 for half day - we were there from 10:30 to about 4 PM. It is not luxurious but very nice beaches, a good lunch (grilled fish) and open bar. The pool is pretty small but there are 4 beaches with loungers. The beach farthest from the resort is clothing-optonal.
coffeyk Posted January 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2012 I spent a week at the Sandals in Antigua. It is gorgeous, luxurious, relaxing, and in my opinion worth visiting. Included are several restaurants, many bars (there are 2 swim up pool bars there), water activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, hoby cats, and simply walking on the beach. Best of all there are no kids as its adults only. I would recommend it.

I had the same question and after several places to choose from, decided on the Grand Pineapple. http://www.grandpineapple.com/main/antigua/an-daypass.cfm It is on the other side of the island though, about a 30 minute ride from what I hear. CelebrityFM Posted January 25, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2012 I loved Rex Hawksbill, took the public bus for $3pp. Dropped at the gate, did not get the day pass just used the three beaches, all very beutiful. I did see others from the ship's excursion on the main beach, where food and drink was included. To get the bus back it was about a 20 min walk to the bus stop from the gate.
