kids at bars/past guest parties

Well said. Someone who gets it. There aren't many places on a ship designated adults only. It doesn't seem to be asking too much that bars might be one of them. If you decide to bring your kids on a cruise - that's great. Just keep them out of the adult venues.

Maybe you could call or email Carnival and ask them to list the piano bar as an adults only area. That would solve your problem, right?

When Ed Rocks plays the Piano Bar his most requested song is called "Wet...(P word for kitty cat). Your kids will love it!

kids will think it's about a cat. most adults will think it's dopey, including me.

i watched porky's and thought it was funny when i was 12 too.

At our last Farewell Party, the kids took over the stage where the adults were trying to do ballroom style dancing. Friends of ours (professional dancers) were completely disappointed & tried dancing around them, but the kids kept getting in the way.

They serve fruit punch (about the only time you can get it on the ships) for the kids & non-drinkers at the parties.

I don't always side with maarten person, but all he/she was relating was a bar or piano bar scene is not for kids, or should not be acceptable to have kids there. If the parent wants to attend, so be it. Leave the kids elsewhere. We are not kid haters, we just want adult only places to go.

I am not leaving the kids elsewhere because I am on a cruise to spend time with them. I am not going on a cruise so I can go have fun and pawn them off into Circle C all day and night.

I still don't get how there is any impact at all to you if we are sitting at a table in a lounge minding our own business. Why would you even notice us there?

Why would Maarten need to specifically demonstrate that he can't hold his liquor to run people out of the lounge?

Still never been an answer to the question how it impacts you.

There are bars that are exclusive - and it is pointed out in the Fun Times: the dance club and casino bar. Also there is the aft pool as well as Serenity.

Exactly. IF Carnival did not allow 'children' in the 'bar areas' then

1) the Soda Cards would not work "at any bar"

2) it would be stated in FunTimes or at the entrance to the venue.

(and Like I said--Id expect any parent whos baby was crying or child was being disruptive to remove the child, as I would...on a ship or on land)

I do keep the kids out of adult venues. Per Carnival (in writing) the adult venues are: Dance Club, Casino, Casino Bar, Serenity, Adult pool, late night comedy.

I've seen this scenario too. Total disreguard for adult dancing, but they got lots of pictures of their kids who drove the adults off the dance floor.

Only kids drink soda using a soda card? I'm not seeing your logic...why shouldn't I be able to use my soda card in any bar?

IStill never been an answer to the question how it impacts you.

I heard a number of answers, all of them good. It impacts me because I don't always want kids around. Mine or anyone else's. I want to sit in a nice quiet bar with other adults.

I guess if that doesn't make any sense to you, no amount of explaining will do it.

And we will, you will Not see the GingerBaby or my 11yr in the Serinity Area, the disco after10pm, or the Adults Only Comedy.

(or at Quest on RCCL)

Other then that, you just might. Carnival is a Family Cruise line (We All Know that) so unless they say 'Adult Venue', its open to families. Sorry.

(Lobby bar is NO different...then a 'closed' bar on a ship....they still serve booze, there will still be people who over indulge...)

Wow...Im no prude, but Id get up and leave...

"P"Control (and that type of songs are not sing-a-long piano bar songs...they are dance songs, and belong in the Disco...)

the roughest thing Ive ever heard in the piano bar was JimmyBuffetts "Why dont we get Drunk and "S"--- and my children hear that in the Car, on my CDs and At Buffett Tailgates/Concerts.

(Ive always just told them to "Censor yourself"--they knew what that meant)

Your response actually makes sense to me. With that being said however, I don't think that you will be able to get your wish on Carnival ship. I don't believe Carnival bars are quiet (adult only or otherwise).

The problem is that while you have your wishes and wants, so do parents with children. They have every right to bring their kids to areas that are not designated for adults only. As some pointed out, there are bars that adults only. While they probably will not be quiet, you will not have to see the kids there.

I don't always wan't kids around either, that's when you would find me at the bar in the casino or in Serenity, or at the wine bar where there probably won't be any kids, in theory the adult pool area (if they actually enforced it).

I specifically mentioned lounges like the piano bar or where a band is playing - those are not quiet bars.

That is the kind of behavior that drives me absolutely batty. I don't care if they are in the lounges and/or bars, pools, etc., I think they are cute. But once they get disruptive and interfere with the activities and their parents don't do a thing... Arghhh....

I've been in the Splendor piano bar and if someone hadn't commented I would not have even noticed the kids sitting with their parents listening to the music. Well behaved kids are a joy to be around.

My dos centavos...

I am still curious as to how your time at the piano bar is disrupted by kids sitting at a table in the lounge.

Nobody can answer that question. They just complain about bad parenting and the exaggerated biker bar atmosphere there.

Your kid sitting in the bar will require the performer to self censor the show making it not as much fun for the other adults... Family friendly in fine for the first hour or so.... But when the bar is hopping, the ability to be quick witted, interactive and yes.... use adult humor, is what makes a piano bar fun...

Bring the kids by at the beginning so they can experience live music... But have enough common sense if you hear the performer tell other adults that they can't do a particular song/bit because of kids in the room, it's time to move them out....

as long as carnival collects the same fares for kids as they do for adults, they should have equal access to all venues except where age inappropriate, set by carnival.

we will be requesting chugga chugga big red car on our next piano bar visit.

Hope you plan on tipping at least a $20 for a song like that... That will derail a show...

That's good because it doesn't sound as though you are a person who would exactly add to the fun in the piano bar. If a dirty song in a piano bar that everyone keeps requesting would cause you to get up and leave...you're a prude.

That is precisely what I would do. The second the performer said that, I would feel that their presence was impacting others and move on.

Ive not ever heard them do this, I *have* heard the performer say (something like) 'tell the kids to cover their ears for this next one'

(and BTW, some of the performers Never use Adult humor or do the more risque songs.. the depends on who is playing)

your response is Hysterical to me, considering you have no idea who I am or anything about me....other then I am someone on a Cruise board...

BTW, Ive been in the piano bar almost everynight of all our cruises.. and I have Never heard that 'song' ....sorry pal.

That is the perfect answer! Kids should get to see live music that they wouldn't be able to experience at home.... but there is a time when it's not appropriate.... If everyone followed this example, there wouldn't be an issue.
