Private day trip to beach hotel in Muscat

Can anyone recommend a hotel near the cruise port or a taxi ride away, where we can use the hotel pool/beach/facilities if we purchase a day pass? Many thanks

The Crowne Plaze does day passes, they quoted me a price of OMR 12.

I'd second the Crowne Plaza if you're looking for somewhere quieter and out of the way. It's one of the older hotels, but has a fantastic view (up on cliffs overlooking the sea and the city's largest remaining patch of green, a mangrove swamp (but much prettier than that sounds!). The food is good, the pool, while not huge, is fine, and there's a private beach (water is shallow even at high tide and very nice). You'd have no trouble getting a taxi there and then one to go back to the port.
