Nassau cruiser going western

I've taken a bunch of nassau cruises and am used to that first night of rough water crossing the gulf stream but have never gone on a western. On average are there rough seas crossing the gulf? I know that it is random and have been in some pretty rough seas around Nassau, I'm just curious if an average cruise in the western Caribbean can be rough.

It's a crapshoot. I've sailed Western a few times. I've had waters so calm it looked like blankets of silk to waters that had small white caps. Your chances for rough seas are greater if sailing during hurricane season.

Just off Triumph 1/2. Smooth as it could be until last night as we approached mainland. Got pretty rough the. Congrats on your choice. Once you go Western, you'll never go back (to Nassau.)

our western cruises out of miami hit that same powerful gulf steam. only lasts a couple of hours.

thanks for the insight, never thought I would get tired of hitting Nassau and assorted private islands but I just got off a 5 day Disney and think its time for a change.

After cruising Western and seeing new ports, you'll just stay on the ship the next time you hit Nassau, LOL!:p

In Cozumel, have a Corona at The 3 amigos right at the dock. Looking out at that water you'll swear you were sitting in a Corona beer commercial.

 

The back side of the island is undeveloped and beautiful. Lots of blowholes along the beach.
