My husband and I will be sailing on the Gem, April 29th, we are staying at the Travel Inn on 42nd street. Could someone tell me what attractions are nearby that we can walk to. Also how far is the hotel from LGA airport and then how far is the port from the hotel? And (lol), approximate taxi costs (I am a planner) :)

the travel inn is on 42nd street is off 10th avenue. You are near the Intrepid air and space museum, the Circle line cruises, the high line. Manhattan is relatively compact....there is good bus transportation and subways a couple of blocks away...

It depends on how far you want to walk..after that.

 

The port is located at 12th avenue and 48-52nd street...LGA is about 9 miles and about $35-40 by cab.- I wouldn't walk that far but the cruise terminal is easily walkable as long as you have limited luggage or less than a $10 cab ride(the motor entrance to the piers is at 12th avenue and 54-55th street.).
