Rental car for last day at Port of Miami

We have an 8.45pm flight from Miami on the 4th Feb so are considering a rental car (seems cheaper than taxis and hotel day room etc). Does anyone have any experience of which company is best - I have searched the main forum but the info seems a bit dated. It looks like Hertz, and Dollar have free shuttles from the Port to the airport RCC to collect a vehicle. Trip advisor forum has some bad things to say about Dollar (toll charges/fines being taken of credit card months later even though the renter wasn't even in that area!) Any advice would be much appreciated.

I use Hertz, they are 5 mins from the port, join their Gold Program and it avoids

Waiting in line as the Miami Downtown pick up office can get busy.

You need to call them when you go thro customs so make sure you have

The downtown office number.

We are using them in feb as well we will pick up and drop off at FLL.

You need to enter your drop off as the next day, but that is not an issue.

Make sure you fill the tank back up before you drop off.

An intermediate car is costing me £28 or about $45.

We used dollar last year and it worked out great. They had shuttle buses at the port but you have to a reservation, they will ask for your paperwork.
