Just curious how the smoking issue is working out in the casino

Just back from the Miracle 1.29.12 sailing. Really did not notice any difference in smoking in casino, other than all of the tables in front of the bar had "no smoking" signs on them. Although there were designated smoking areas and signs saying you must be playing at a machine in order to smoke, this was not enforced at all. People walked around the entire casino with cigarettes. I never saw anyone being reprimanded or redirected. There was a small section of the casino bar that was designated smoking, and it expanded as the week went on, meaning most of the bar became a smoking area. Just letting people know as this is not what we had been led to expect. Let me say I am a former smoker and it didn't really bother me, but it did bother others. Just FYI.

IMHO, It's a BIIIIIG (and welcome) change! You can actually be in the casino and breathe. The casino is divided into two areas, separated by the main walkway. On one side, smoking is NOT allowed, while smoking is limited on the other.

While, you can still smell cigarettes, you are not playing in a cloud of smoke like on other Carnival ships.

If you are a smoker, you now also have the option of stepping outside. Just a few steps from the casino, glass doors open right to the lanai area. Port side is smoking.

There will probably never be a way to please smokers and non smokers alike, but in my opinion, this design is a pretty good compromise . :)

Dittto, except I was never a smoker...For those of you who may remember when they allowed smoking on the airplanes, and you asked to be seated in the non-smoking section....and you were seated in the 1st row, behind the smokers:eek:-that's about how it is in the casinos now!:D
