Things to see and/or do...

My husband and I will be taking our first cruise next month. We are going to the Southern Caribbean (St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, Aruba). We already have our shore excursions booked for each port but with our remaining time left at the port we are looking for recommendations of other things to see and/or do.

For each particular port listed above, what things are within walking distance of the ship that are good to see and/or do? If you do recommend an activity and it's not within walking distance of the ship, about how long does it take to get there and by what mode of transportation do you recommend?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Only terminal shopping is really within walking distance, but do check out the Rum Cakes in the shops there.

For nighttime fun, most of us took a cab over to the Boatyard and got a little tipsy. Alot of the crew and passengers go there until "last call" for the ship.

You can have dinner, drink, dance, walk along the beach and pier, or just hang out.

Yes there is shopping in the port terminal. There is also Pelican Village just outside the main gates of the port area which does have local arts and craft stores. You can walk about 15 more minutes from there and be in the heart of Bridgetown, where there is all sorts of duty free shopping to do (several shops you will have seen in the port terminal as well).

if you go left out of the main port gates, and follow the main road you will get to a stretch of beach of sunning and swimming and a little further down the road is Mount Gay Rum Factory where you can take a tour. Thats about a 20min walk.

have fun.
