Caye Caulker Beach

If you take the ferry over to Caye Caulker how far is the sand spit (where the swimming beach is) from where the ferry leaves you off?

The split is to the right in this map (North end of island in reality, me thinks).

 

 

 

Looks like a few blocks from where the water taxi will drop you off.

I see a reference here that is is about half a mile to the split from the water taxi, but still not that far.

I hope you know Caye Caulker isn't real beachy. I guess what I mean is there isn't a beach entrance to the water that isn't filled with sea grass.

You can jump in the water from the concrete dock at the split but I don't know if it's what I would classify as a "swimming beach" as you called it.

 

My group had fun there but if you're looking to lounge in the sand and wade in the water I would do it at Costa Maya, Cozumel, or Grand Cayman (if you're stopping at any of those).

Thanks Chris. Nice pictures and review. Not sure we could manage jumping off docks and climbing ladders to get back up since we are seniors.
