Houston for kids, one afternoon

Recommended Posts

Traveling to sail out of Houston. Arriving on a Sunday morning and looking for something fun to do with the kids in the afternoon before we hit the hotel. Any recommendations. Dont' want to break the bank.

How old are kids ? And depends on interests and time of year.

12-10 and 5. March 2012. Haven't gotten a hotel yet, looking to stay somewhere between HOU and the Port, so if there is something fun inbetween, I'd be interested. Maybe going to the beach for the afternoon.....how about NASA? It will be a Sunday.

Depending on budget

If you stay in Houston do Museum District

If you stay in Clearlake area do Nasa amd Kemah

If you stay in Galveston do Moody Gardens, beach, or Strand

I will give bunch to look at and consider:

Main areas to stay in Galveston

On the Gulf (seawall)(many motels and hotels)

On the Bay (Moody Gardens Hotel))

Downtown Old Town Historic District by Port – Only (Harbor House and Tremont)

On highway coming into town(few)

In my opinion

San Luis, Hilton, Moody Gardens, Tremont, Galvez and Harbor House

are the better hotels.

Many other nice ones obviously!
