navybaby1113 Posted February 16, 2012 Author #226 Share Posted February 16, 2012 We headed to the lido buffet for lunch. Today's buffet was American and they had a taco station as well as a nacho bar. The nacho bar had some gorgeous watermelon carvings on it.
navybaby1113 Posted February 16, 2012 Author #227 Share Posted February 16, 2012 For lunch, DH had tacos and nachos. He said this was his favorite buffet meal the entire cruise. I grabbed a variety of items. I got some shrimp poppers, fried green beans, and turkey from the buffet. Nachos from the nacho bar. And fried oysters and fritters from fish and chips. I wasn't a fan of either of the items from fish and chips. The fritters were dry and didn't have too much flavor and the oysters tasted too fishy. lovestocruise19 Posted February 17, 2012 #229 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Yum! I'm determined not to miss the chocolate buffet this time. What is that thing drenched in chocolate on a stick?

navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #231 Share Posted February 18, 2012 After lunch we went to the last round of Super Trivia and won! Then, we went to the digital scavenger hunt. They give you a list of things to take a picture of (only one camera allowed) and you have 20 minutes to find as many as possible. It's a lot of fun, but definitely a workout running around the ship. We came in third and won another ship on a stick! That brought our ship on a stick total up to 5! After the scavenger hunt we went to tea time. We had horrible tablemates, so tea time wasn't as enjoyable as it normally is. They came around with a cart of delicious sweets. I had an almond tartlette and the best scone ever! Went then went and did a couple of trivias and played Match game and a Pictionary type game.
navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #232 Share Posted February 18, 2012 This evening they hosted the Fun Farewell Party in the International Lounge. It was packed! They had the same drinks that they did at the past guest party and they were free flowing! They were giving us new drinks before we even finished the other one. The entertainment staff was there and started a conga line around the room. They also did a few dances up on stage and got the guests to participate. navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #234 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Tonight for dinner we requested Richard's section and immediately got seated. Here are the menus borrowed from Zydeco Cruiser's website.
navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #235 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Sorry for the bad pictures, Richard's section has horrible lighting. For appetizers, I ordered the chips and salsa again and DH ordered the mango cream soup. I tasted his soup and it was very good. Light and fruity. It reminded me of melted ice cream. For entrees, I ordered the prime rib and the bacon mac n cheese (without the chicken). DH ordered just the bacon mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was good, but they just put slices of bacon on top. It would be better crumbled and mixed in. They thankfully used a different pasta than they did earlier in the week. It wasn't as heavy. For dessert, we both ordered the Grand Marnier souffle. Delicious as always! We made sure to take a picture with Richard before we left.
navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #236 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We went to the gift shop and bought a few t-shirts that were on sale for 2 for $20 and a shot glass. Also picked up our future cruise certificate that we ordered earlier in the cruise. Ticket to Ride was tonight at 10:30pm and we made sure to get there really early to get a good seat. We ended up in the 4th row. This show didn't fill up as much as the one earlier in the cruise. There was a lot of crew who came out to the show. It was nice because they added a lot of energy to the audience. Came back to the room to find our last towel animal of the cruise. :-(
navybaby1113 Posted February 18, 2012 Author #237 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Saturday, January 28, 2012 Sadly, this is the morning of debarkation. We woke up at 7am and finished getting our carry-ons packed. Took a shower and headed up to the lido buffet to have breakfast. We sat up in the fish and chips area until our zone was called around 9:30am. Grandparents picked us up and we had lunch in Stuart before the long drive home. Arrived back home around 8pm. tmt218 Posted February 18, 2012 #239 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Just found your review. I have been away from the Carnival boards while researching my next Alaska review. I may have to head out on the Freedom after another great review. You "made" me cruise on the Inspiration after that great review. ;) No starch, starch and more starch this cruise? Did they have a grill with the roasted meats, mac n cheese, and mash potatoes? Glad you had a great cruise! I look forward to your next review. PinklacesS Posted February 19, 2012 #244 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Thank you very much for such a great review. Your pictures were great. We are leaving for this same cruise in 27 days and you have really got me excited. We have not sailed on Freedom so am excited about touring this ship. You didn't mention anything about the Seaside Theatre at night.. was there any good movies playing? We have only been on one other ship that offered that (Triumph) and we really enjoyed snuggling up in the evening to watch a movie under the stars. You mentioned the 'secret' spot on this ship..care to give details/location?

We didn't watch any movies on the Seaside Theatre, but I do remember they were mostly kids movies (I think they had Tron, Chipmunks, and some others.) For the secret spot, if you head to deck nine and go all the way forward, you will get to a door. Go through the door and you're at the secret deck. It's fantastic! eedee Posted February 24, 2012 #248 Share Posted February 24, 2012 I will be on the Freedom for the third time in August. I must say, I think this might be the best review I have ever read. It was so good I almost forgot I even cruised the Freedom already:confused:. I cant wait to take it again.Thank you so much for the time you put into this review. It was appreciated. eedee Posted February 24, 2012 #249 Share Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Oh I have two questions. Usually Carnival cruises have mexican night party. It usually starts around 11. Did they have that? Also I noticed you said earlier that there was no midnight meals on the lido deck. There were instead light snacks elsewhere. Was this during the whole cruise? I asked because my husband and son enjoy going up to the Lido late at night for a burger and cookies to go Edited February 24, 2012 by eedee
