tootsieh Posted April 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2005 We are Diamond and it is something everyone wants to achieve!!! We have friends who are almost there and are going to say that they have one more cruise that they really do!! How does RCCL keep this from happening!! Also, we know people that brag about being Diamond and they have not been on 10 RCCL cruises. Does this happen often? For those of us that keep traveling with RCCL to achieve our status it doesn't seem fair!!!
LisaGoeke Posted April 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2005 Or for the people whose records were lost and they need to provide "proof" of their past cruises, that isn't fair either. I'm still digging for my old information. :(

Also, we know people that brag about being Diamond and they have not been on 10 RCCL cruises. Does this happen often? For those of us that keep traveling with RCCL to achieve our status it doesn't seem fair!!! It´s not anymore about how many cruises you´ve been on but how many cruise credits you´ve earned. You get an additional cruise credit if you cruise on a 12+ night cruise and you also get an additional cruise credit when cruising in a Suite. I´ve been Diamond before my actual 10th cruise too. But I earned all my cruise credits. Theoretically you could be diamond after your fourth cruise if three of them have been 12+ night cruises in a Suite. In my eyes this system maybe still not perfect, but much more fair than earlier when people earned the same credits regardless of doing a 3-night or a 12 night cruise. tinmantam Posted April 17, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted April 17, 2005 you can not just tell them you have cruised when you didi not. the people in the crown and anchor dept, look up all info, you need dates, ship name, etc.they verify everything. tootsieh Posted April 17, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2005 Does that mean that if you are on a 12 night in a JS you get 3 credits? Tootsie
Suzy B Posted April 18, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 18, 2005 That's correct. You would have 3 credits.
beachchick Posted April 18, 2005 #11 Share Posted April 18, 2005 For anyone wondering why JS and above, and 12-night or longer cruises get an extra point, the answer is very simple: C&A members were complaining that a member in an inside on a 3-night cruise was getting the same credit as someone sailing in a GS on a 14-night cruise. To make things more "fair," RCI added these extra points. Guess you can't please everyone; there are sure to be those who don't think that it's fair for anyone to upgrade status with fewer cruises than they took. I think it was a good idea to add the extra points--it's also incentive to book longer cruises and higher level cabins. beachchick
MariTenor1 Posted April 18, 2005 #12 Share Posted April 18, 2005 While adding the credits for longer cruises and higher categories is a nice thought in making it a "fairer" system, I think the best way to be fair to everyone would be to base it the number of nights cruised, not the number of cruises. Let's face it, anyone from outside of Florida (or any distance from any of the newer ports) who has to pay to fly, is usually going to book a cruise of probably 7 nights or longer. It's too expensive to pay for air for only a 3 day cruise. But, those who can drive to the pier can easily take quick 3 night cruises for next to nothing and be up to Diamond or Diamond Plus status in no time. So the Diamond Plus member could have actually spent less money with RCI than a Platinum member.
tootsieh Posted April 19, 2005 #13 Share Posted April 19, 2005 I think that the way they are presently doing the points is a great idea. I was just reading the forum "Received a Letter from Crown and Anchor" where people were saying that they received letters upgrading them for no reason. I don't think that sounds fair--in fact, I can't even imagine they are doing that. Tootsie
