mid20scruiser Posted February 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I am thinking about making reservations for the steakhouse for the 1st night on the ship Just curious as to how long dining usually takes. I dont want to miss the welcome aboard show.

robin13 Posted February 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I totally agree! It was the best $30 a person I ever spent for a steak dinner. If you are going the first night don't forget that you do get a bottle of wine with your meal.
cv322 Posted February 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2012 And worth every penny! Absolutely!!! :D! A funny story about this experience: Our first time was in the Emerald Room on the Glory in 2005...and it was a fantastic meal & sensational evening for us. When it came to the time when our bill was presented we had a serious discussion, between the 2 of us, as to what would be an appropriate tip for this great meal and great service. We had no experience on this subject prior to this particular cruise.......and we honestly felt that 20% on the very modest surcharge figure simply wasn't enough! So, we decided to tip as if we were dining at a favorite restaurant on land...estimating what this magnificent meal would have cost at say, Firebird or CraftSteak in NYC. We concluded that between pre-dinner martini's, the sumptuous meal, wine with dinner & after-dinner drinks...that the tab would likely be around $300 at a minimum. We left a $60 tip ...and you should have seen the server's face! :D! Too funny. We now know that tipping isn't essential in the steakhouse, but we believe the food, the superior level of service, the ambiance warrants a little extra ;)...so we'll add a modest $20 for the server.
