Some guidebooks claim there's no "good" snorkeling on or near Waikiki Beach. Some claim there's none at all. Others claim you can snorkel at San Souci beach toward Diamond Head and also by the Magic Island near Ala Moana Beach Park. So which is it? I realize snorkeling on or near Waikiki would not be like Hanauma Bay. But if you're staying at a hotel on Waikiki and have your snorkel gear with you is it a complete loss? Wouldn't expect to see huge numbers of fish, but do you really see no fish at all? Having our own snorkel gear, I like to seek out snorkeling opportunities even if they are so-so. We snorkeled off Waikiki Beach, near the Hilton. If you swim out to the rocks you will see a small amount of fish. Not many at all. Hanauma Bay on the other hand, was wonderful!
