BballinQT24 Posted February 15, 2012 #51 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks so much for taking the time to write your review and posting the pictures. The pictures make it so much easier to envision the trip. The ultimate balcony dinner looks like a nice way to spend an evening and definitely might be worth trying out next time. fathercop Posted February 16, 2012 #54 Share Posted February 16, 2012 HiWONDERFUL REVIEW with PICTURES!! I am reliving our cruise the week before yours, but we didn't do as many exciting things as you have, so far. Was your hotel the old Yankee Clipper?? I kind of recognize the building. I know it is a Sheraton Hotel. When you go out the back on the beach, the cruise ships look so close as they are leaving port. Fathercop---Trevor and I are thinking about cruising on the Royal the first year, too. He has it in his sights!!! And, it will have to be from Ft. Lauderdale because we don't fly. It's a good job we live in Florida. We were on the Ruby with you for the Inaugural, and I think we saw Adrian in Crooner's on our delayed Emerald cruise in 2007. Did his buddy play the piano. I have pictures!! We see our meet and greet pictures on our desktop as they revolve all day long. Bettycruiser and Tommycruiser-we will be looking forward to your next post!!! Lynne Lynne, I remember that cruise and that meet & greet. Wasn't that cruise a blast? I think that was one of the largest CC's Meet & Greets that I have gone to. I also have tons of pictures from the cruise and few from the CC gathering. I know I have at least one of you. I'll have to go back and look! As far as the Royal is concerned, I definitely want to be on her inaugural cruise, whether here or in Europe. I really want to do both, but if DW can't get off of work, then we will probably just do the U.S. Lest anyone reading this jump to any conclusions, I only here the rumor mill speaking as to where the Royal will be sailing first. Hopefully, we will be sailing again with each other! Rich a.k.a.

lynwar Posted February 17, 2012 #56 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Tom, I'm looking for the Crooner's pictures-they may be on the other computer, and I might have seen those fellows on the Dec. 2007 Emerald Princess. I did find the one of Rich and me taken at the Ruby Inaugural Meet and Greet, but I'll let him tell you whether he wants me to send it. It is fun going through all the photos, again, though. Northender Posted February 18, 2012 #57 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I loved the review.:) I hope I am not too late to ask a couple of questions:eek: Do you know what night(s) the Chef Table was held? A little more about Jacks Shack, please. Did you enjoy the time there, etc. Thanks:)

A little more about Jacks Shack, please. Did you enjoy the time there, etc. Thanks:) Not too late:) I don't think they had any chef's table on our cruise because of the noro code red. Since we were doing the UBD we didn't try for the chef's table this time. Yes, I did enjoy Jack's Shack, I tried several different drinks and the jerk chicken and enjoyed all. We enjoyed sitting at a table on the deck, but there is also a volley ball net and chairs on the beach.
juggles Posted February 18, 2012 #60 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Yes I remember Adrian and Daniel too, they were just the best and made our holiday. I believe Daniel got promoted to Bar supervisor and rightly so. They both just made my holiday so enjoyable. They are so funny too. Does anyone know what ship they are on now? I'm not sure about Daniel but Adrian is on the Ruby and I believe the head bartender for the crooners bar. Northender Posted February 19, 2012 #64 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We will be on the Ruby starting April 15th. Will look for Adrian in Crooner and say hi for you.:) After all we are members of the Red Sox Nation.:D:D I am just hoping that Generosso is still aboard for that week. Betty, I would ask about the entertainment in the lounges, but they change this up every 4-6 months or so. I wish Phoenix Rising was onboard but alas, I do not think so.:(
BettyCruiser Posted February 19, 2012 Author #65 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I'm not sure how often Generoso gets vacation time, I heard he was on vacation over the Christmas and New Years holiday and he was back on for our cruise. I didn't have a chance to ask, but I bet he's opening the Royal too. The only lounge entertainment we saw were the comedians. It seems like Princess does a good job chosing funny comedians. Phalst Posted February 19, 2012 #66 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Wow Betty! What a detailed and informative review. Your photos add so much. It's too bad you had to sail with the noro virus. We'll be sailing on the Ruby in April, and I can't wait. Reading your review is a great way to get ready for the cruise. I'm sure I'll have questions later, but right now I just want to tell you how much I enjoyed reading your review.

NCMtnGal Posted June 17, 2012 #68 Share Posted June 17, 2012 Hi Betty, Thanks for such an awesome review of the Ruby and your cruise. It was very informative for me as I will be sailing on her in October. This will be my first ever cruise. I'm very excited and ready to get going. Your review and pics helped a lot. I had heard of Jack's Shack from others who are sailing with me. What decks have the best cabins? I am booked for an inside cabin. Thanks again for the great review. BettyCruiser Posted June 17, 2012 Author #70 Share Posted June 17, 2012 This was our first cruise in one of those sideways insides on Riviera deck and we really liked the location and extra room. We have booked equivalent rooms on both the Caribbean and Star Princess for future cruise. We spend a lot of time at the pool on sea days, so we find we like rooms close to the pool. We have also had a Plaza deck inside, that location is nice in the evening close to predinner drink venues, dining room, stores, casino etc. On the Ruby, our first choice is R508, R507, R514, R515, R407, R403. Advice... Arrive at your embarakation port at least a day early, makes for a less stressful and less tiring boarding day. If you aren't on a ship sponsored tour give yourself plenty of time to get back to the ship. Arrive at evening shows early to get a good seat. Try something different at dinner, if you don't care for it, they will bring you something else. I like the Crown Grill specialty restaurant, I've also done the chef's table, both are great dinners and good experiences if you are looking for that, but the dining room offers great meals at no extra cost. I haven't been to Sabatinis since they started their new menu, but in the past I liked the Crown Grill better. Take a lot of pictures, you don't have to buy them, but we ended up buying several on the Ruby, one of the photographers we went to a lot was very good, unfortunatley I don't remember her name. Feel free to ask any questions you have, I'll answer the best I can.
suzyed Posted June 17, 2012 #71 Share Posted June 17, 2012 Take the Ultimate Ship Tour! It cost extra, but is so very interesting! Make sure you leave some extra packing room for the "goodies" you get when you take this tour! ;)
