Taxi from NY docks to Newark

Anyone know how much I should expect to pay a taxi to go from the docks to Newark and how much time it should take on a Sunday morning. Arriving on the 17th of July.

we're traveling from Sweden to Uk, then QM2 on May 22. We'll be staying in the US for about 2 months then traveling back on July 05.

 

We struggled a bit with the cost of the taxi's from the docks as well, but then realized, its much cheaper to rent a car in NYC for about 39.00 per day. That might be an option for you too.

We will be travelling from Sweden as well. My wife is from Stockholm and we will be visiting the in laws before we cross. We have been to NY before so we want to go right to Newark airport and fly home to Toronto. Is there a ferry that crosses to NJ in order that we save the taxi tolls? Or will the cost be about the same one way or another? Thanks.

If you don't have a cumbersome amount of luggage, you can easily take a bus to to Newark airport. The bus leaves from a terminal at 42nd st. and 8th ave. The ship docks at 49th and 12th av. You can wheel you luggage along, or take a $5 cab to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. When you get there, ask for the Newark airport bus, and buy your tickets. The fare is $12 per person with no luggage charge. They take you right to your terminal at Newark, and the trip takes about 20 minutes. Buses leave about every half hour.

Rather than take a bus, I would take the direct train, which drops you directly in the airport, works out very economically. I also can recommend the most wonderful driver that we always use, I am not sure what he would charge to Newark, but he is certainly worth the extra money.
