Katie95 Posted February 17, 2012 Author #26 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks for all the replys. I was figuring probably around $1000.00 so it seems I'm pretty close! Definitely not planning on having my cell phone on or anywhere near me during the cruise so the phone bill won't be an issue!
tef43 Posted February 17, 2012 #27 Share Posted February 17, 2012 I'm wondering typicallly what people feel they spend at the end of it all between their S&S card and the extra's off ship.Only thing on the S&S account were the auto-tips. Spent nothing on shore. Don't have to spend money to have a good time.
cathyz Posted February 17, 2012 #28 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Ours varies depending on length of the cruise and if we do Carnival excursions or not. This next cruise, we don't plan on any excursions, have pre-paid the tips (first time we've done this), have a BV bottle waiting (always do this), have $200 OBC, so should be about $1000 (but it is a 9-day cruise). Then there's also the $1000-$1500 cash we bring for the casino.
cdamion Posted February 17, 2012 #29 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Around $800 for 2.
Katie95 Posted February 17, 2012 Author #30 Share Posted February 17, 2012 For those who drank, how many drinks would you say you have each day? Obviously it will be higher on sea days.
laumicmah Posted February 17, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 17, 2012 I estimate about $100 for me per day for everything and about $75 for DH per day (he doesn't buy pics or souvinirs and he doesn't play bingo...just watches me play and he doesn't do the casino, but he'll have a larger bar tab than me). We usually spend less than that. Kids- I figure soda card and tips...they bring their own $$ for arcade, souvinirs and candy/treats. I spend/day: $11.50 tips $3.50 extra tips $40 bar drinks (we always bring wine on board) $20-bingo/casino/pictures $25-excursion or souvinirs (excursions aren't every day)

About 4 for me and DH, maybe, 6...sea day or not. That will include our wine we bring on board.

jacksmom09 Posted February 18, 2012 #35 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We always average about $1,000! And, I pay for shore excursions in advance! We buy photos, lots of drinks, bingo, casino, and tips!
KirkWN737 Posted February 18, 2012 #36 Share Posted February 18, 2012 For the four of us we spend just over $2000 for a 7 day cruise. That includes excursions, drinks, spa stuff, steakhouse, pictures, gift shop, casino, etc. we also bring $100-$200 for our stewards and waiters... But only if they're good and they deserve it. I know it's probably too much, but I really feel for these people. Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk
RazorbackBelle08 Posted February 18, 2012 #37 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Is it really almost $20 for a DOD in a souvenir glass?!
maryred Posted February 18, 2012 #38 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Depending on what cup it's served in, yes the DOD w/ the refillable souvenir glasses can be that much. The best I can figure out the breakdown on the craved coconut goes something like this: $9.75 for the drink $5.00 for the coconut monkeyhead $2.21 for the auto-tip on the whole purchase ------ $16.96 total But you can refill the souvenir glass for the normal bar price + tip with any drink
RazorbackBelle08 Posted February 18, 2012 #39 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Carved coconut?! I've always wanted one of those to drink out of at parties...! Sent from my pager using a St. Bernard named Emperor Flufflebum
laumicmah Posted February 18, 2012 #40 Share Posted February 18, 2012 It was about $16 or $17 for the blowfish souvie cup we had to get for our DDs. The funship being pushed on embarkation day is about $16 too, I think. The $8-9 regular glass drinks actually hold almost the same amount as the plastic souvie cups do. MissKIA Posted February 18, 2012 #41 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We're budgeting $200 for the two of us per day. That includes drinks, casino, 1 steakhouse dinner for 2, and any shopping we might do. We pre-paid tips and excursions. We are also bringing $100 cash for each port. I don't know if we'll use all of this, but that's our budget.
spcopps Posted February 18, 2012 #42 Share Posted February 18, 2012 HMM this is a wide answer question. It depends on what you enjoying doing and how much you have to spend. On our last 4 nighter we spent 2000 extra for 2 adults and 3 children (no soda package or shore excursions). This did include tips and an extra 2 hours for 3 kids in the children's program because they begged to stay. The entire $2000 was spent onboard the ship and we probably spent another $500 in ports. Ksea1961 Posted February 18, 2012 #43 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I'm budgeting $100 per day for 3 (one non drinker) of us. That will be for drinks, shopping and the casino. I ordered 3 bottles from BV and we are carrying on 3 12 packs of sodas. We are not doing any Carnival excursions. I have already prepaid the tips. misstopgun Posted February 18, 2012 #44 Share Posted February 18, 2012 After you cruise the first time you will get a feel for what you need to enjoy everything you want to do on vacation. We are not the typical cruiser so if I shared our expenses with you you would swear off cruising. My husband and I both have very demanding jobs so when we cruise we go all out and budget accordingly. We spend more than most but that is because we choose to. We don't have to. Regardless of what you spend, the thing is to have a budget and stick to it. You wouldn't want to come home still paying for all the extras you didn't plan on. Don't forget that pre and post cruise you need to budget for hotel, resteraunts and transportation and or parking.
Ksea1961 Posted February 18, 2012 #45 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We can drive to the port but will have to pay for parking. About $105. That does not go into the "spending money" category but I thank you for the reminder because I want to bring cash for parking...I hear the line is shorter when paying cash :D
bonnie&clydecruzers Posted February 18, 2012 #46 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I'm wondering typicallly what people feel they spend at the end of it all between their S&S card and the extra's off ship. I always figure about $100 - $150 a day on sea days. That's for everything like drinks, bingo, casino, gift shop souvenir,S&S tips. We don't do the Steakhouse and aren't huge gamblers. And then I figure $200 -$250 a day on port days. This is for drinks, meals on land, excursion or 2, taxis, tips, a souvenir or 2. Most of my port money is for excursions though. If I know I'm doing a real expensive excursion, I will bring $300 for a port day. For the whole week we average $1000-$1200 on a 7 day cruise. I always bring way more cash than I really need because my philosophy is I would rather have too much than not enough. I absolutely hate going to an ATM or having to find one. prettyrainyday Posted February 18, 2012 #47 Share Posted February 18, 2012 My husband and I did our first cruise with $1,000 and were VERY comfortable, and that's with bringing loads of souvenirs back for family. Last time we took about $400 and still had a great time, although it was a bit tight. We already have $1,000 set aside for this trip!
RAVI360 Posted February 18, 2012 #48 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Just curious... I am sailing with my bf APril 7th on the Liberty and want to have an idea of what to budget for extras? We do drink and will enjoy a few drinks aday and would like to do an excursion each day (even if it's a just a beach day). We won't be doing much shopping if any really. I'm wondering typicallly what people feel they spend at the end of it all between their S&S card and the extra's off ship. i can never count that high.......but it usually seven pages
desertrat23 Posted February 19, 2012 #49 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Spent $600 on a four-day last year. Of course, breaking the camera before we even got on the ship necessitated the purchase of a new one once onboard, which added a pretty healthy chunk to the bill...:(
