mjl1960 Posted February 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I have a question that came up in a conversation the other day. We are confirmed for early dining in the MDR on the Spirit, but we was wondering if we could walk in at the late dining and be seated for the anytime dining if we were to get back from an excursion too late to be ready for the early dining? Anyone every have any experience with this one?
spencercoop Posted February 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Nope. If you have a table for early seating and you have missed your dining time, your only choice is room service or the lido. If you want to use anytime dining, you have to be assigned to it.

Anyone every have any experience with this one? not usually as they check your card to see what seating you have. There is only so much room in the anytime dining room and if people who had first or 2nd seating decided it was more convenient that night to dine in anytime dining that would take up spots reserved for anytime diners. Conversely you wouldn't want to show up at your reserved table one night and find me sitting in your seat.:) Bill

jonz Posted February 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We tried any time dining last time but didn't like it. Too impersonal... kinda like being at a restaraunt. We like the personal attention you get with the same wait team every nite. That is an experience..
Colorado Kat Posted February 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We had Anytime Dining in Jan, and had the same wait staff every evening. Even had the same table, which got a little annoying. We showed up 40 min later than usual one night, and they had saved our table of 10 for us. We had 3 people, and they filled it with others, after we sat down each evening. Next time tell them to prefer to eat alone and you will be seated at a smaller table.
CapsR1 Posted February 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Signed us up for "Anytime Dining" on our next cruise and will report back whether we like it or not. Have typically always booked the earlier dinner seating, but felt we would give it a try.

bonnie&clydecruzers Posted February 18, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2012 You have to stick to your assigned dining time. If you can't make it, then it's room service or lido buffet. Don't discount the buffet, it usually quieter and more intimate(find table in back corner) than the MDR.
