my favorite you got to be kidding me story is...

we were in Buenos Aires and someone sent us to a Argentine Steak restaurant and we were standing in line waiting for our table and we started to talk with the people around us. One of the people standing in line was a very nice young lady who was an exchange student going to the local University from Wisconsin(a lovely state). We started talking about what we had done that day and we had done the Evita tour..a tour of Evita sites, the Union where she had been involved, meeting with someone who had known her as a child(he was the child not her) and a visit to her grave in Recolata cemetery. She said..."who's Evita"...

and I am not kidding...we said Evita Peron...you know the movie with "Madonna".. she said her Dad did say something about looking this up before she left home...we suggested that when she got back to the Dorm she google Evita....

I would have asked the exact same question. I had to google this to find out what you were talking about. I don't watch movies nor pay any attention to advertisements for upcoming movies. Sorry I don't think this is odd at all. And actually probably the only reason I know who Madonna is, is because I raised kids in the 80's.

Someone else from this cruise posted above. They were on so early they had time to get off and go explore NO. No mention of major traffic or other issues. Sounds like the OP may have timed it way to late and now wants to blame NCL.

The plot thickens ... sounds logical to me.

Again, had OP come in a day before and stayed in a hotel, they could have WALKED to the terminal if thectraffic was that bad and made it.

Sometimes trying to save a few bucks by not booking a nearby hotel the night before is pennywise and pound foolish.

This thread is a perfect example of why you should ALWAYS get to your port a day before your cruise. Even if you aren't flying,

Well actually in this case, this may have not been possible physically or financially.

From my understanding it is nearly impossible to get a room the Saturday night before Mardi Gras and the prices are through the roof (meaning it would not be just a few bucks).

Just about everyone I know know Madi Gras is celebrated in New Orleans as much as Las Vegas has casinos. And everyone of them know Madi Gras happens the week of Fat Tuesday, a common religious christian holiday observed throughout the christen world. Sorry you had no clue.

The OP didn't really say they didn't know about Mardi Gras "Every road was blocked because of freaking mardi gras", which could just mean they were cursing the fact it was Mardi Gras.

We learned last year while travelling, that the movie Evita, with Madonna, was largely filmed in Budapest. :)

We obviously live a sheltered life up here in the great white north.

We all know that according to the cheerleaders on this board, NCL can do no wrong. Everything NCL does is ok by them. The food is the best, accomodations are the greatest, and there is never a service problem. Nothing is ever NCL's fault. You won't see much sympathy here.

Doesn’t matter which cruise line it is. People need to take their responsibilities in their own hands & stop blaming anyone else for their own demise!

You need to soak it in hot water before attempting to remove the feather. :D

We had chickens when I was a kid...prior to the hot water dunking, we would do a rapid removal of the head (and then the chickens would run around for a while)

I had the worst job on our household dis-assembly line. I had to pluck the pin feathers. Those buggers can be difficult

I just realized-this thread title is disgusting experience. My post is right on point LOL
