Water Depth at shipwreck an turtles?

Can anybody tell me how deep the water is with the snorkeling tours that go to the shipwreck and turtles? Also, how far out are you? Can the seas get very rough or is it in a protected area? Thanks!

We were told that the water depth was around 20 to 30 feet, but the top of the ship was about 15 feet down. We were maybe 50 yards from shore in Carlisle Bay. The water as pretty calm and snorkeling was very easy.

We were in Barbados on Friday. Carlisle was calm in the morning, but by lunchtime, the water at Payne's was quite choppy and you couldn't see 3 feet in front of you under the water.

 

It can be hit or miss. Generally, the water is calmer in the mornings.

we were in barbados last year and were on a snorkeling trip to the turtles. it was beautiful, calm waters and really clear. I assumed every day was that beautiful! While the waters are not that deep, if you have never snorkeled before, get someone to teach you how to clear your ears, you will have a lot more fun and be able to dive down deeper if you know how!

Not deep at all. The water was a bit choppy as it was rainy but unless you had never snorkled it was not a concern at all. The turtles at max 15 to 20 feet and we were probably 10-15 max above the shipwreck. It was definitely doable from the shore if you watched for the cats. We had a few first timers on our cat and they had no problems.
