Is this doable? Is it easy to get to the port from thsi area?

If you mean walkable, absolutely not.

Take a cab, I think costs will be around E. 20.- driving time about 10/15 minutes.

There is also a tramconnection, not convenient with much luggage, and you will have to transfer at Centraal. Station.
