Purchases at Local Stores

As background, we have spent a very enjoyable day in Barbados on a previous stop. All the tourist places accepted US$.

Now a question for the Bajans who post on this board. I am aware that in some places (not necessarily Barbados) local shops prefer to use that country's currency.

Since we will be spending several days next week in Barbados prior to our cruise, should I put out a little bit of effort to obtain and use Barbados currency or do the Bajans not really care as long as I pay for what I buy?

Thanks

All vendors are more than happy to take your $USD.

When we stayed on the island for 2 weeks, we paid for everything with $BDS. It was much more convenient.

It's easy to convert USD to BDS at most banks, but not so much the other way around.

Cheers, P:)
