Question: has anyone ever rented a car in Galveston on Sunday when the Magic returns? Our flight doesn't leave until Monday and I thought it would be fun to rent a car and do some sightseeing. Curious if anyone has and what car rental. Company is located near the port. Thanks!!

Enterprise is on Broadway, but not open on Sunday.

Not Galveston's fault the business is closed and no other agencies have wanted to open here.

I have recommended many times on the boards for travelers to contact the rental agencies stating how one open on weekends is seriously needed here.

Check with Hertz Texas City!

Maybe?

At times there appears to be conflicting info on these threads.

We live here and don't use them!

Keep calling them, showing interest,

and maybe things will change!

So this is our plan don't know if it's the best but maybe it help you out we are also sailing on the magic.

We are flying into hobby on Saturday and rented a car from enterprise at the airport. We are driving then to Galveston and my husband is dropping us off at our hotel and then taking the rental car back to enterprise. They close at noon on Saturday. Then we wil just walk around and go to the beach(our hotel is on the beach) and then take a taxi on Sunday to the port. Cost was 78.38 for a standard car.

On our way back we still have 2 days in tx so we r taking a taxi back to the airport(hobby) and renting another car for 2 days.

It sounds like a pain when I think about it but it's still way cheaper that way then to rent a car for 11 days .

Thank you all so much!! Looks like our best bet is head back to the airport after the cruise and pickup a car. Then we could just drop it off before out flight. Too bad Galveston doesn't have car rentals right by the port for Sundays when the ship comes in! They would make a fortune!

I also checked into car rental and you might want to re-check being able to drop off your rental car at the Enterprise in Galveston on Broadway street. The Enterprise website shows they do one-way drop offs for airport locations not airport to non-airport location.

Best wishes for a good cruise.
