Our Fabulous Vacation: My Liberty of the Seas Photo Review

Recommended Posts
Chrystal; 19 days before we sail on LOS. What is the cocktail you love so much & what is in it? Do you know the legal drinking age in Mexico? My boys (all 7 of them) can't wait to drink a Corona on a beach. After reading what you said about Mr Sanchos, I think this is a good place for us adults to keep our eye on them:) They also can't wait to play Black Jack in the Casino (that will wear off once they start losing their money). Also, when I first started cruising in 2003, there was a lovely old couple who wrote reviews. I couldn't wait to sit down at the computer and let them "weave their story" for me. I feel the same about your review.
Not trying to hijak Crystals review but the drinking age in Mexico is 18. Unless you go to a commercial place like Margaritaville, no one checks ID's. Especially if the boys are with you. I believe Crystal LOVED the Miami Vice and it is amazing....It is a strawberry daquiri on the bottom with a pina colada on top. So it's red on bottom, white on top. Delicious!!! And very common in Mexico. Have a great time on your Cruise! I will be on the Liberty on Thursday! WOOOOHOOOO.......:)

Awww, she didn't win the cruise? That sucks! LOL But at least she won something, like you said.

Great review! I wanted to do one for my Explorer cruise but I don't know how to post pictures, so I just did it in my blog. I am going to do one for my Allure cruise though.

Looking forward to your review of the Allure! To post pictures, you need to store your photos somewhere online, like your blog, Facebook, or Photobucket. There's a yellow icon in the toolbar (5th from the right) when you're creating a new post. It has mountains in it. Click on the icon, and copy and paste the link for your photo into that space. The photo will appear after you click ok :)
My wife and I are going on Liberty of the Seas to Cozumel for our honeymoon in just a couple of weeks; April 5th.

This has been one of the best reviews of that ship and cruise that I have read.

Thank you! :)
What a great way to celebrate your marriage! Wes and I had our honeymoon on a cruise and it was wonderful. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon. :D
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Great photos! :)
Ok, so I think I left off at dinner. After our meal, I stopped at the Cafe Promenade one last time for a couple more slices of that blueberry loaf. I wanted to have it on hand in case I wanted a snack later.

We got dressed for our last evening of dancing. It's funny because Rae brought a dress she wanted to wear sometime that week and hadn't gotten around to it, and I didn't really have anything else to wear (I totally underpacked). She let me try the dress on, and guess what?! It fit! She actually ended up giving me the dress, since she thought it looked better on me. I never said that, she did, lol

The last morning of a cruise is hardly ever fun. We weer a little melancholy as we finished packing. Because we had such late flights, we decided to leave our stateroom around 9:45-10:00. As we headed toward the Platinum theatre for the next wave of departures, we came across a worker who asked if we were trying to leave the ship. We said yes, and she said, "Just take the elevator down to deck 1 to depart." We quickly found an elevator and were off the ship (sadly) in less than 10 minutes.

What we didn't realize was how long a walk it is from the ship to the luggage terminal. I think we were walking (stopping and starting) for about 10-15 minutes. I wouldn't carry a whole lot of heavy things off the ship, but leave those things outside your door the night before so you can retrieve them in the terminal!

We quickly went through customs and caught a taxi to the airport's car rental center. Our last glimpses of the ship:

We rented a car from Enterprise for the day, and the cost was $60 including taxes and fees. I know we could have gotten a lower-priced car by booking through Hotwire, but with rental cars I like knowing exactly who I'm dealing with ahead of time.

Upon getting to the lot, the manager upsold us an SUV for the day. It was very nice and filled with some cool amenities. A lot of the car was controlled by the touch screen in the center of the dash.

The drive to Las Olas Boulevard was only supposed to take about 10-15 minutes, but we were silly and listened to the GPS that ended up taking us toward Miami! We had to turn off the GPS and use the handy map they gave us at Enterprise to navigate the area.

An hour later, we found Las Olas. Yay!

I chose Las Olas Blvd because I figured we could fill several hours by walking in and out of the shops, having lunch, etc. What a great choice. It's a beautiful area:
I really enjoyed the Moroccan Spiced Chicken Salad. I figured I wouldn't have the chance to try something like that at home anytime soon, so I gave it a try. The chicken was packed with flavor. Not a lot of heat, just more curry flavor. Delicious.

The calzone and the tempura. Both looked great and they were happy with each.

Now, I was actually kind of grossed out by my steak with gorgonzola butter. I wish I had gotten the sirloin from the alternative menu.

For dessert, we had the (regular, not sugar-free) key lime pie, which was pretty good!

I had that steak that night also! YUCK! It sure was not butter! More like a Hollidnase sauce! Very yucky!

Let me begin by telling you that because of YOU, I've not gotten anything done around my house this morning.

Yes, that's right. The laundry, the making of beds, care of the pets, the grocery list - have all sat unattended....because I've been sitting here for the past hour, totally engrossed in your fabulous review. :D

Oh, the food porn. The fashion porn. The port porn. I have sat here and soaked it all in - vicariously enjoying your cruise and the fun that the three of you obviously had.

And now...NOW...I MUST go back and read all of your previous reviews.

So...it's all your fault that nothing will get done today. :p

Seriously, though - I have enjoyed this review. I love reading upbeat, positive reviews - as I am an upbeat, positive person myself - and I have also enjoyed your beautiful photos. You really brought this cruise to life!

How can anyone not love Las Olas? Last time I cruised out of Pt Everglades Priceline set me up at the Riverside Hotel at Las Olas and Federal Highway. Right next door was Cheesecake Factory. It was a little bit of heaven! 2 other reliable spots on Las Olas, for future reference is Mangos on Las Olas (their crab bisque is delish!) and The Floridian (a diner type restaurant perfect if you want breakfast anytime..actually the same is true for lunch and dinner as everything is available 24/7).
