hermitstyle Posted March 28, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2012 What excursion are you looking for? just by telling which one you will have much more useful answers ;) As posted in the thread title, the OP is looking for info on the Cayman Pirate Excursion. I saw the reviews on Carnival, and it seems that most enjoy it, and of course there are a few unenjoyable posts speckled throughout.

ginger123snaps Posted April 4, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2012 I would like to know. We have 4 year old twins and a 2 1/2 year old. Just wondering if they might enjoy this. Any insight would be great. I tried contacting them directly but there was no response.

dz63 Posted April 8, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Our family went on the Cayman Pirate Encounter in 2007. My DS's were 8, 12 and 15 at that time and they all loved it. We left the ship at 8:30 am and took the tender to shore. We then waited for our Cayman Pirate Encounter to begin at 9:00. We followed a pirate to the next pier where we hopped onto another tender boat that took us to the pirate ship. My youngest was escatic to see that one of the pirates on board was dressed up like Jack Sparrow! We booked the Cayman Pirate Encounter through the ship--mainly because they offered a special time for cruise ship passengers from 9:00-11:00 am. The pirate ship sailed passed our cruise ship and fired cannons at it in a mock pirate attack. The children, if they wished too, could then participate in "swabbing the deck". They received either a toothbrush or a small sliver of a rag to wipe the deck. After that they recited a pirate oath. The pirates on board captured two prisioners and dumped ice water over their heads. After this entertainment, anyone could jump off the side of the pirate ship or walk the plank into the beautiful turquoise clear water of the Caribbean Sea. Everyone was required to wear a flotation device for jumping off the ship. Once back on board they served free rum punch or soft drinks. I have a video of our Pirate Encounter posted on Youtube. This should help you to understand better what this excursion was like. Hope this information helps!
Shelleywood Posted April 9, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2012 We also did this excursion in 2007 and our kids loved it as well. All of the crew members are dressed up as pirates and the ship is an authentic looking pirate ship. It just sails around right in the bay area where the cruise ships are docked. It has a mock cannon that they actually set off and it looks like they're shooting at your ship.. just some smoke and loud boom. But, the kids love this. They also do a small skit where they make the kids scrub the deck and tie up the parents.. etc. It's a real fun time. The only negatives about it were... it was very crowded the day we went so we were packed in like sardines. After the skit, everyone is given an opportunity to swim. The only problem is you have to jump off the ship or walk the plank to get in the water. For adults this isn't a problem.. if you're a strong swimmer. For kids, this can be very scary for them to jump off the ship or walk the plank and just jump in the water. Once in the water, there's nothing to hold on to and you can't touch the bottom so you're just swimming and floating around the ship. You do have on a life preserver but you tire out quickly. All in all it was a fun excursion and lasted maybe an hour. There are lots of videos of this excursion on Youtube if you want to check it out. Hope this helps. :)
