Venice No More Amazing Sailaways

I agree with you this is just a wish list. With the economy of Italy this will be years happening. They not have the flood control done yet and it was start years ago.

If Venice did not want Cruises ships why did they just open a new cruise terminal at Maritime. It is across from the old one and is very modern. We saw it when we were on the Pacific Princess early this month. Cruise passengers bring a lot of income to Venice.

Where the ships port will remain the same (in the preferred option) but the direction they travel in and out will be changed when the changes are made.

It would not be the first time that a government entity completed a construction project in support of an activity and soon afterwards the powers that be changed course and negated the direction of the new construction.

If the very existance of Venice is increasingly threatened' date=' decisions will need to be made. Just think and look closely at the fragility of Venice. [/size']

Both cruise companies and the lagoon areas of Venice benefit from the current situation. But, it has been clearly shown that the city of Venice is negatively affected by having these mammoth cruise ships entering and leaving Venice. Change to the current situation will come over time. I am on the side for long-term protection of Venice over the disappointment of not doing the exciting sailaway from Venice. As with many things, it is a matter of setting priorities.
