Doing your own Tour in Belize

Will be traveling to Belize for 2nd time in June on Elation. We would like to do a City Tour for a couple hours and was wondering if anyone had done such a tour from the locals at the pier area instead of using the ships tour. Last time we were there, we were approached by a number of people offering tours from the pier area for less cost than what the ship offered and was wondering if anyone had a good or bad experience with them.

My wife and I and two other couples hired a guide outside the terminal for about $20/person for a two hour tour of the city in an air-conditioned Bronco. It was very interesting and worth the money. We made acouple of stops and visited a church, etc. Just be careful and don't go alone.

We booked a private tour at the pier for $25 and were gone to the ruins and a city tour for 3 hours. It was excellent.

Nacho and his wife are great. They can help you do whatever you want in Belize. He is not a big tour guide group like many of the others, so you get more of that personal touch.
