newzandile Posted March 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2012 I see a lot of warnings about being careful about ship time v. port time when you book excursions independently. In July I will be on the Elation out of New Orleans going to Progreso and Cozumel, since New Orleans is already CST won't our ship time match our port time for both ports? Next year I hope to be on the Liberty out of Miami in April, for that I would expect the ports will be 1 hour behind the ship, is that accurate? Thanks for any clarification! Westbank is bestbank Posted March 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Ship time & port time is the same in New Orleans. It only changes on the islands. The ship will announce the change many times before you leave the ship so you should be well aware of the change. :)
Deaf Dude Posted March 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Daylight savings time is what can screw up the time in cases like this. you will be inforned about the time difference if any. Just remember to follow your watch and not clocks on the walls in any businesses.
CruzVinnieCruz Posted March 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Normally when cruising the Caribbean you stay on ships time and do not change. If they do it will be announced but the only time we changed was when we did a trans canal itinerary. If an independent tour is using local time they will state that and usually inform you of the time difference when booking. Vinnie
Sargent_Schultz Posted March 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Mexico observes Daylight Savings Time and those ports are on the same time as New Orleans. For the Liberty cruise, The Fun Times paper on the ship will inform you if there are any ship time changes.
