stew300 Posted April 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2005 I read one thread that said Diellmann formal nights are really not so formal. Could someone please describe what they experienced on " normal" and formal nights on the Heidelberg?
goforfun Posted April 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2005 We have taken two river cruises on Deilmann--one in the south of France, the other on the Danube River. In our experience the informal nights on Deilmann cruises could be described as "country club casual"--the men were comfortable in slacks and polo shirts, women in slacks or skirts. Formal nights do not require a tux. The men wore suits or sport jackets and the women wore dressy evening outfits.
stew300 Posted April 26, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 26, 2005 Just what we wanted to know. Since you took a second cruise, I assume you like their ships!
goforfun Posted April 27, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2005 Oh, yes! We were on the Princesse de Provence and on the Mozart. Both are lovely.
Jesterscourt Posted April 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2005 We were aboard the Heidelberg on the Rhine/Mosel cruise. Remember that most of the clientele are well-to-do Europeans (mostly German) who like to dress and eat more elegantly. While we wore jeans at times and never wore a tie, it was apparent that this was the exception even though it was tolerated. Also, the portiions of food were smaller, and there are no grand "midnight buffets". You will never feel bloated and will not gain weight!
