Nice, France

Our daughter will be studying abroad this fall. She will be gone for about 4 months. While I have been on many cruises, they have all been in Mexico and the Caribbean. We are considering meeting up with her and possibly taking a week cruise or so because we are not familiar with the area.

I believe Liberty of the Seas is a ship that ends stops in Nice France. If we arrive in Nice, how long will it take to get to the port that the ship takes out of?

Wondering if we would be better off doing sight seeing on our own, or if we should cruise and hit different ports seeing as this is the first time doing anything like this. Any advise would be welcomed! I am guessing we will go in October/November time frame but will have to see when her school breaks are.
