shopping in Progreso

We would like to do a little shopping in either Cozumel or Progreso. Does anyone have any suggestions? Where to go, best prices?

Very general question! What do you like to shop for? Remember that silver and vanilla are not from this part of the world and so will be relatively expensive as they are provided just for you visitors. Cigars from Havana? Might be from Havana but they are what are called seconds, made with tabacco leaves that are not as perfect as the top-quality stuff. Flavor should be good though. Hammocks? They are brought in from around the Yucatan and Merida.

 

All your touristy shopping can be done on the malecon in Progreso or at Cozumel. If you are serious about hammocks or guayaberas for example, I suggest heading into Merida and visiting a serious place for those.
