I have previously cruised on Princess(1) and Costa ( 1) . We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversay however Oceania Nautica prices are almost double. Travelling from Rome to Barcelona Oct 16th I have 3 days before I must place deposit. All information would be helpful. Thank you.

We have sailed Princess but not Costa. Oceania is a definite step upwards from Princess. We do not like the mega ships that Princess sails and prefer the more intimate ships that Oceania sails. Also we love the fact that there are no formal nights. Food, Oceania is definitely better. Desserts are much better on Oceania. There is no photographer trying to take your picture all the time on Oceania which I really enjoy. There are very few if any children on the cruise which means you can enjoy the pool without worries of being splashed or bumped into and much less noisy. We have now sailed Oceania twice and are taking another cruise next year on Oceania. We will take other cruise lines if the itinerary suits us and the ship is not too large. It is your choice and you have to decide whether or not it is worth to you.

Yes - as long as you KNOW what you are paying for.

If you think you are paying for fabulous entertainment, exciting and plentiful shipboard activities, a large hopping casino -- you will be disappointed.

If you think you are paying for a more refined upscale atmosphere and crowd (most of the time), good food and and a more intimate experience (especially on the R ships), it is worth the price you pay.

Yes - Oceania is definitely worth a bit extra. Worth remembering that most of Oceania's pricing does include airfares which IMHO causes most people to think they are "expensive".

Oceania prices also include all sodas and soft drinks, as well as most coffees (cappucinos and espressos, I believe, I don't drink coffee). One gets tired of lemonade after a while, and even that's not included on NCL...
