Here's a review that I wrote posted a few weeks ago . . .

Cruise: Carnival Destiny, Eastern Caribbean - February 6-11, 2012

This cruise was a girls cruise (OK, a "golden girls cruise" as my son says) that we booked over a year ago on Carnival Paradise. Due to Paradise scheduled for dry dock, we were able to switch to the Carnival Destiny. Five of us went and we are all ladies between the age of 57 and 70, some of us retired, and some still working. Those of us with husbands, left them home to fend for themselves.

We let Carnival book our air and our flight schedule was very good. We left Albany, NY at 5:30 a.m. on Monday and all flights were on-time. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, collected our luggage, and boarded the bus to the Port of Miami. At the port we were escorted to the VIP line due to me using a "knee walker" because I have a fractured foot. In no time we were on the ship and dropped our carry-ons off in our rooms. Our luggage arrived a short time later. We went to the Lido deck to have our lunch and a first drink of the day. We went back to our rooms, I made a safe arrival call home and went to the muster drill. I took the battery out of my Droid smart phone so I would not have any roaming or data downloading charges.

I'll summarize the rest of the review:

Dining Room: The food was excellent and exceeded my expectations. The quality of food has NOT gone down. Food and desserts were great - especially the lobster was superior, soups, beef was tender and tasty - everything was super.

Service: Dining room waiters were excellent. Room stewards were excellent, very friendly and efficient.

Entertainment: Shows were very good including the comedy show, dancers and singers. The piano bar was excellent - Rob is great and keeps the guests entertained and involved.

Room: We each had lowest price Cat. 1A rooms. The rooms were more than adequate for one person. I'm sure they would be do-able for two people too if one of them didn't mind sleeping on an upper bunk. The bathroom was good size, the shower was large. There was plenty of closet and drawer space. The room was clean and comfortable. The room was located at the very front of the ship and had two port holes. Location was fine with no uncomfortable movement. There was occasional noise, but no big deal.

Ship: The overall condition of the ship is excellent. The Destiny was my first cruise in year 2000. She is in just as good or even better condition than she was 12 years ago. Our waiter told us that the Destiny was due for dry dock in 2013 and they were going to add a supper club. (Note: we now know that the Carnival Destiny will become Carnival Sunshine next year).

Ports: Love - Love - Love Half Moon Cay. The white sand beach is beautiful and the water was fabulous. The lunch was good and there are plenty of shaded pavilions with many picnic tables to sit and eat. We could see many activities for more adventuresome people and kids - water activities, etc. Grand Turk was beautiful also and we sat on the beach, went into the water, and walked around the shopping area. I spent some time in a WiFi hot spot communicating with my son home. Nassau - we shopped at the "straw market" and spent some time trying to find a WiFi hot spot at the terminal building where WiFi service was intermittent.

Misc: I spent a lot of time looking for WiFi hot spots to be able to communicate with my son at home as my daughter-in-law had a C-section scheduled for Friday afternoon. WiFi was intermittent and I ended up going back to the ship and calling home to learn that my twin granddaughters had been born and mother and babies were doing great.>

Casino: I love the casino and try to limit myself because I could become addicted very easily. I rationed the money I had set aside for the roulette table. All in all, I came out ahead and at one time I cashed out and put money on my S&S account, so when I left the ship my balance was under $20. And that's after buying as many drinks as I wanted, a couple of pictures, gratuities and luggage express and baggage fees!

Luggage express: This is great - for $20 you leave your bag outside your room by 11 p.m. on the last night and don't see the bag again until final destination. The $20 plus airline baggage fee of $25 was put on my S&S account.

Our flights home were on-time and I even had time to stop at the hospital to meet my beautiful new granddaughters !!!

The only negative on this trip (and they were not that bad) were: stained carpet - how silly, no big deal. Also, at dinner, the 5 of us were seated at a 4 top booth type table with a chair at the end of the table. Not really roomy for the five ladies - and our dinnerware was always crowded. We wished they had put us at an 8 or 10 top with other passengers. We tried to make the change but nothing was available until late seating, which we did not want, we all prefer early dinner. We made the best of the table taking turns being the person sitting at the end. The waiter was great, food was great, so we "got over it" pretty fast.

All in all a great trip, lots of fun for five fun loving ladies.

Did you read DebNGab Destiny unknown review? That's a good one.:)

Yes that was a good one!

We have a few out there that have started reviews but for some unknown reason (can we say LIFE) has gotten in the way of them finishing up, so here I sit in limbo waiting for some fresh new ones. :D

To be honest I hope I can do it justice . On our last cruise with Princess I had all intentions of coming home and writing a review and it just didn't work out that way-not only did I lose all the notes I had jotted down on the ship-I still say DH trashed them but work (yes-I work full-time), school-(yes-I go to school full-time) and my DSx4 got in the way.

But since so many here on CC have been so great to post their experiences-good, bad or indifferent I am going to post a review-even if I haven't quite learned how to include pictures yet
