LOL! Too hot for the Caribbean you say? So that's why it sails in the summer to the Mexican Riviera ROFLMAO!!!!! Somebody yanked a chain lol!

I sailed Splendor last October to the Mexican Riviera and it was't even summer anymore and it was hot and himud as Hades!! Loved the ship though. The retractable roof on the Lido deck is wonderful!:)

The layout that confuses passengers also happens on other Carnival Ships, the large galley in the middle of the ship. We figured out how to get from our forward cabins to the aft dining room by the second night. Lots of walking, I could see how hard it would be for someone with a walking difficulty to manage it, the ship is huge!

We had spa cabins and loved the large spa with the therapy rooms and pool.

We have a spa balcony in June. Any tips on travelling the length of the ship in a timely manner. Travelling with small children that make going from point A to point B harder than it should be. Thanks in advance!

We would take the forward elevators or the glass ones in the atrium [kids love those] to deck 5, that deck went all the way forward and aft, then walk all the way aft to the aft elevators or stairs and down to deck 3 for the Golden Pearl. You could also walk the whole way on other decks, except deck 3 or 4, but then you are in the narrow cabin hallways. Deck 5 has the casino, club, and all the bars on it.

We had the late dinner and there was usually a line waiting to get in, filling up all the lobby area. So we learned to wait in the Robusto bar, which is on deck 4, outside the second floor of the Golden Pearl or just come a little late. Since we didn't have early dining, I don't know if there was a similar line at that time. Since we all have assigned tables, I never understood why the line? No one is going to get your table!

Thank you! This was exactly the info I was looking for!

DING DING!! I know the answer to this! I attended the Future Cruise presentation on the Conquest last week just for fun. The Carnival guy had all sorts of random trivia tidbits.

The reason the Splendor is the only ship in her class is this: the Splendor was originally designed for the Baltics. A lot of the outside space is more sheltered to make cold weather cruising more comfortable. When the $/Euro became unfavorable, it was too expensive to sail in the Baltics so the Splendor was sent to Southern California and no more ships of that "cold weather design" were built. The reason the Splendor doesn't sail the Caribbean is because it would be too hot and stuffy in some of the outdoor areas due to the design.

Big difference between the CONCORDIA and the SPLENDOR is that aft Lido Deck is open on the SPLENDOR, very similar to the Spirit Class ships. On the COSTA CONCORDIA the Aft Lido also has a roof that can be rolled over it. Carnival needed a ship the same time the SPLENDOR was being rolled out so they took it. Plain and simple.

The Main pool on the Lido deck does have a roof above it, but that is capable of being OPENED FULLY. Beautiful ship, but don't care for the interior layout that much as its very similar to the Conquest Class.

I've cruised the SPLENDOR twice and in 3 weeks time will be on her for the 3rd time. Love this ship because it has so many of the Spirit Class attributes, mainly the AFT Lido Deck OPEN to the sea unlike the Conquest class which surrounds the entire Lido with steel and glass.:( Pics in my WEBSHOTS below.
