blossom52 Posted April 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Who do you book your Thompson cruise with? Do you use the Thompson website, the shops, or is it better to book through someone else?:confused::confused:
Grez Posted April 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2012 I tend to use Cruise Deals. Although they are part of Thomson, they have better prices than the Thomson website itself.
Rare Jim The Scot Posted April 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Independant TA.
Jakanne1 Posted April 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Looked on-line and then asked local Thomson travel agent to match price and booked through them. Have done this for years with land-based holidays but perhaps with Cruises there are better ways.
Choirman PJ Posted April 8, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2012 I use Thomas Cook Direct but not before using the Internet to find the best price. They will usually beat or match it. I also have a TC credit card on which I earn TC pounds at the rate of 1% on all purchases.
jenny wren Posted April 8, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Cruise deals usually undercut the Thomson website ......we have got a quote from them and taken it to Thomson shop and they have undercut by another 50 pounds...just the once though!! :)
Little Nell Posted April 8, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Usually get internet price and get TA to match or better it, but won't book early again due to the bargains going around just now.

blossom52 Posted April 8, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Glad I asked!! Had a look at Cruise Deals and they do look a bit cheaper although they are pricing it on a Man flight, I will phone them tomorrow and enquire for LGW. I am half temped to wait a while, but as I do want a particular date, it may be wise to book early.
Grez Posted April 8, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Glad I asked!! I am half temped to wait a while, but as I do want a particular date, it may be wise to book early. Give them a ring and ask them to email you a price, then take it to a couple of travel agents and see if they can do better. If you are happy with either price, book it and then don't check to see if the cruise has gotten cheaper before you go. It may go down or even up in price, but there is no point in worrying about that - you will have paid a price you are happy with.
CRUISIN LINDA Posted April 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Looked on-line and then asked local Thomson travel agent to match price and booked through them. So do we, as we like to book our cabin and you can't do that on line:)
Len Baker Posted April 9, 2012 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Usually get internet price and get TA to match or better it, but won't book early again due to the bargains going around just now. Us too. Seriously thinking of booking late for 2013. Will look for 2 or 3 alternative cruises, not all with Thomsons, and hope at least one is available at a reasonable late price. I don't have that account, sounds good though. I contacted Cruise Deals and surprisingly they were more expensive than Thompson.
infoqueen Posted April 9, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Direct on line with Thomson, once with cruise deals over the phone but quite like the idea of going to the travel agents and letting them try to match or better it.

biffybear Posted April 9, 2012 #19 Share Posted April 9, 2012 The RBS account is called a Black Account. You pay a charge every month but get all your travel insurance for the year, free access into any executive lounge, emergency call out for household problems, identity protection etc. You also get 25% back on any concert tickets you purchase through them which I find usually covers my charge. I order my daughters T in the Park camping tickets which save me a bomb. They also manage to beat holiday prices by at least a couple of hundred. doctor who Posted April 9, 2012 #20 Share Posted April 9, 2012 I've just looked at RBS black account and you have to earn at least £100,000 a year to open an account with them. Oh my god I would love to earn a quarter of that.

Oh my god I would love to earn a quarter of that. With that revenue through the a/c no wonder they give you generous perks!! But if you're entitled - make the most of it! ;)
biffybear Posted April 10, 2012 #22 Share Posted April 10, 2012 We dont earn that a year, but have been customers for years and have been upgraded everytime the account changes. Over the years is has changed from Royalties Gold to Private to Black.

liauq Posted April 10, 2012 #25 Share Posted April 10, 2012 definitely get a quote from cruisedeals by phone; if your airport of choice has seats they will tell you even if it doesn't appear on the website. you've then got a good bargaining chip!
