A day in Sanary-Sur Mer

Sanary is a very attractive seaside town with a busy port/harbour and is the perfect place for a relaxing but interesting walkaround. A more gentle pace than in larger cities or towns and it is often nice to have somewhere like that on your itinerary. You will get a real feel for this part of France in Sanary.

The port/harbour is busy with fishermen bringing in their catches and visiting sail and motor boats. There are markets most days of the week, and night markets in summer. There are also some small but good beaches.

I think you will enjoy your day here.

If you have a very long day here and the above is not enough to fill the time, I would suggest that you take a bus or train a little further along to Bandol and spent a little time here too. The rose wine centre of the area. Short journey, easly done. Although there are very pretty vineyards and villages behind Bandol and Sanary, sticking to the two towns would be the easiest option unless you plan on renting a car.

Suggest you go to the official Sanary sur Mer website, and the same for Bandol. Markets, beaches, places of interest are all listed, also photos of the town. Wikipedia has a link to the official Sanary website and may also have for Bandol. For public transport, googling eg "buses from Sanary to Bandol" should bring up the local bus company. They have a network of buses connecting these towns. There are also trains. Depending on the locations of bus and rail stations and frequency, I would check both options before deciding.

I know that area pretty well and think you are lucky to be able to explore it a little.
