Villefrance to Eze

Recommended Posts

Hi Peter - We're traveling on May 14 on the Splendour and for the Villefranche port, we're just going to take the train to Nice and Monte Carlo. You can look up any info on the train on these boards - go to Ports of Call - Europe and there's all sorts of information.

http://www.voyages-sncf.com is the website, just enter your travel times and it will bring up a schedule for you. You can see from the sample below it will only take minutes....good luck.

How difficult is it to get from Villefrance to Eze on our own? Would you recomend taxi, train or bus? Thanks for your help. Peter

There are several threads on this.

The 100 bus (it's a coach) takes you from Villefranche to Eze and runs every 20 minutes and will cost a few euros.

Anyone who describes this part of the South of France as "easy driving" is a much better driver than me. There are no car hire companies in Villefranche and so that would mean a delivery from the airport. Even if parking were easy in Eze, many would not enjoy the drive up or around the area. The train is also impractical for several reasons - not the least of which is the spasmodic nature of stopping trains up the coast. No local would take a train for this trip. Nice to Monaco on the train is different from Villefranche to Eze. You should not expect to pick up a taxi casually at Villefranche.

The bus is the obvious choice.

We took a bus from Monte Carlo to Eze. As I recall, you walk up the hill, away from the casino, up a small flight of stairs and pick up the bus across the street. There is a tourist center, which will be on your right before you get to the steps and they will give you a bus schedule. Were were going to get the bus to go back, but got lucky and snagged a limo driver who was dropping people off and he took us back to Villefranche. I would not rent a car, the road is very curvy.

I agree about not driving - the roads are extremely curvy, I wouldn't do it myself!!

The train trip from Villefranche to Eze is very quick - just takes minutes. When you get to Eze you may have to wait a little time for a bus (possibly up to 30 mins) but the little coach will take you right to the centre of Eze..I would say it's definitely the easiest way to do it.

We did this trip last September by train/bus....I would really recommend it.

Good luck!

We will be in Villefranche in the fall. Would like to visit Eze, Monte Carlo and the waterfront in Nice. Is this possible to do via taxi, train or bus? If so, where should we go first (monte carlo, then Eze and Nice) before heading back to the crusie ship. The shore excusion from cruise ship is $155/person. Any info someone is able to provide is appreciated.

Hi goldenprincess53 & everyone,

We are going on the Galaxy 10/7 Med cruise & are researching tours, etc. in Villefranche, Eze, Monte Carlo & Nice now. Several cruisers have been there b4 (we have). When is your cruise?

You may want to check our thread out:

Why don't we start a Villefranche, Eze, Monte Carlo & Nice do-it-yourself thread? I started one for Do-It-Yourself-Rome a while back because there was nothing on it. Has a lot of info on it.

Some of you have great info. Why not put it all in one thread?

We did the ship's tour b4 on Princess & visited the palace, church, etc. Looking for something different this time. Perhaps Eze, St. Paul. I have posted some stuff on our thread but just starting to research it. Feel free to post anything you find on ours.

Mary
