Rare l2f Posted April 12, 2012 #26 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Is there a fee to withdraw money from your S&S at the ATM?
Andoria Posted April 12, 2012 #27 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Am I reading this correctly? If I get an OBC it will be split between everyone in my cabin? I don't want that! I paid for the trip and I want the money to be MINE, MINE, MINE!
ibcnusoon Posted April 12, 2012 #28 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I just can't get over the amount of OBC: interior $510.00 OBC and balcony $645.00 How much did you pay for these cabins and were these from price drops?!!??
ibcnusoon Posted April 12, 2012 #29 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Can't you go to the casino, put in the over 21 years old's S&S card, tell the machine you want "gambling money", then hit "cash out", take the slip to the casino cashier, and get your cash that way? The cruise rates are going up not down so I guess I'll cross this bridge when I get to it. Maybe I'll send an email to my family saying if we get OBC it's MINE! helicopter Posted April 12, 2012 Author #32 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I just can't get over the amount of OBC: interior $510.00 OBC and balcony $645.00 How much did you pay for these cabins and were these from price drops?!!?? The cabins were booked ES sometime in Dec. for our trip on Magic in June. Prices started out HIGH compared to some other interior and balconies we have had but I wanted to go on that ship so I booked. I didn't think prices would ever go down (especially balcony), but when the Spring into Summer sale started they just kept dropping. The prices they are now is about what we have always paid for balconies/interiors on our other cruises. I think it really boils down to the high price they started at. At times they go down for maybe one day and I have just been lucky enough to catch the drop (I look a number of times each day). Couple of days ago it dropped 100.00 but it didn't last but one day:)
helicopter Posted April 12, 2012 Author #33 Share Posted April 12, 2012 In a few places on the ship they have Carnival ATMs... you can check your portfolio... take money off your card for ports..... change larger bills in for small ones.... pay down your SnS card.... so if someone has your OBC... just take their SnS card... and take out you OBC.... Easy!!!We had over $700 for an OBC... so we just used the money for on shore purchases. Thank you so much for this info, I have never read where anyone mentioned these machines:)
helicopter Posted April 12, 2012 Author #34 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I keep thinking of things and coming back:eek: Please note that when I say 'linked', I'm not talking about for reservations I'm talking 'charging privileges'.

I paid off the balcony in Feb when I got my yearly bonus, I have never got a price drop on a balcony. Didn't pay off the interior in hopes of price drops. $600 reduction in final payment for the interior and $595.38 OBC for the balconies. Can you say HAPPY!!! :D
Vitality08 Posted April 12, 2012 #38 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Carnival wouldn't have to worry about that because they wouldn't permit a room to have minors only (on paper). I think the solution you came up with makes the most sense (pull the money out through the casino). You racked up loads of great OBC. Enjoy your cruise! I don't think that's 100% true. I cruised with 4 minors (aged 14-17 at the time) and they all shared a room by themselves. The requirement was I be in an adjacent room or across the hall. I was in the adjacent room. Nothing "funny" was done at booking and then switched once on board.

Two minors (13 and over) can be in their own cabin if they are next door or within a few doors across the hall (have done this many times when kids where younger). Last year we had 14 and 16 year olds across the hall from us in their own cabin. Must be traveling with parent/grandparent/guardian:) Thanks for the clarification! :)
audcc77 Posted April 12, 2012 #40 Share Posted April 12, 2012 My husband and I were in one room & our 2 sons (18 & 10) were across the hall in an interior. We had a couple of price drops as well on both cabins. We did pay for both cabins, obviously, since it was our family vacation. The 10-year old did not have charging privileges on his S&S card but the 18-year old did. Since we paid for the cruise, we told him that he could pay for anything else he wanted. At the end of the cruise, we just went item by item, and made the older son pay us back for any gambling, pop, whatever. Luckily, since he knew he’d end up paying for it, it was minimal. This way, since we paid everything on both cabins, we got the OBC. Since each person has their own S&S number, it is pretty easy to figure out at the end of the cruise. Good luck & enjoy your cruise.:)
cuiser8349 Posted April 12, 2012 #41 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I saw the ATM machines for the first time on the Freedom in Feb. My husband and I had an OBC of $736... everytime he looked at his folio he spent more money!! It was burning a hole in his pocket... So, I fixed that... LOL!!! They ATM machines are very helpful when they are busy at the customer service desk. When we exchange our money for $US it is usually big bills... so being able to get smaller bills for port is GREAT!!
