Good Morning! :)

We are going to have a wedding in our family!! Brian & Staci are engaged! For the Newpids: Brian is our youngest son. Our oldest son is Greg, who is married & expecting their first child in June.

We're thrilled about the engagement. Staci is a great girl & we love her. They've been togethers for 3 years, so it's not exactly a surprise, but still exciting. The wedding will not be until summer of 2014, which gives them lots of time to plan & save money.

Congratulations Sue! But like you said, it's no surprise. BTW, I was cleaning up my emails last night and saw that I missed one from you. I was wondering if it really was from you though because it had a link in it and I thought that the signature seemed kind of formal if it had really come from you unless for business you have email that automatically puts that signature in. Did you really send it? It had something to do with a baby crib and you asked if I knew anything about that site. I get a lot of bogus emails with links so I never click on the links unless I know it's legit.

Yesterday I told you how one of my co workers posted on Facebook about white smoke coming from the OG and that meant we had a new GM. I thought he was just joking about the smoke because of the new Pope being elected recently but the smoke wasn't a joke. There really was a fire. It was just a small one in the mulch outside the building, probably from a cigarette and it was put out right away but the timing was funny. Apparently it was right at the time that our Director came to announce who the new GM would be. We had another mulch fire last night when I was working. I started smelling smoke and at first I thought it was just cooking smells coming from the Longhorn Steak House across the street but then someone came in and said we had a little fire. It was very windy yesterday and people are so careless with their cigarettes. We haven't had rain since they put the mulch down so it's kind of dry right now.

It's another beautiful day here. It's supposed to get into the low 80's again AND I DON'T HAVE TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Two different people asked me to pick up their shifts today but I said no.

This is Senior Week for Staci's sorority and they are doing lots of cool things for the girls. I had to write a letter to Staci and send some pictures that they will be putting into a presentation for the girls. They also encouraged parents to send their girls flowers or cookies or something so last night I placed an order for cookies with "Cookies by Design." Right after I placed the order I noticed that I mistyped the address and put down the wrong house number. Thank goodness I noticed it. I typed 422 instead of 411. I called them this morning and corrected it. They had actually already fixed it because I had also sent them an email late last night but I wanted to call and double check to make sure they made the correction.

Have a great day. :)

Dave called a little while ago. Someone at work must have had some Cubs tickets they couldn't use so we are going to the Cubs game tonight. :D I can't remember the last time I went to a Cubs game. It's probably been at least 20 years. A couple of years ago Dave had tickets to a few games and I was supposed to go with him to a couple of games but things came up for those games and we couldn't go. I remember one of them was right around the time Eric was going to be coming home from his semester in Argentina and we went Miami to pick him up and then to Orlando for a few days so we couldn't go to that game. It should be a great night for the game. It's 82 degrees now. It will probably cool down at night but I'm sure it won't be cold. Hopefully the cold front won't move in early. It's only supposed to be 65 tomorrow. I think the last game I went to a cold front moved in and temps dropped about 15 degrees in 10 minutes.

Heidi, did you know that Wrigley Field was 99 years old last Thursday? We are supposed to get rain and storms again today but so far nothing. We are debating about going to the Food Bank at noon. We are in the process of buying food and stocking up for next year so it is NOT necessary for us to run around in the rain although it would mean no bread for tomorrow's backpacks. We both have meetings tonight in separate places which is no fun because we only have one car therefore Kay will drop me off early at the Lodge for my half hour meeting and then I have to sit there until she returns from her meeting two hours or so later. Fortunately this is her last meeting away from the Lodge as her time is being taken up by being Lodge Secretary

Good Morning!

Heidi, did you know that Wrigley Field was 99 years old last Thursday?

Rick - I think I read something about that. there's a lot of talk going on right now about the future of the Cubs. I have paid much attention to it but from what I've heard either Wrigley Field is going to get major renovations or the Cubs might be moving to Rosemont.

We had a good time at the game last night. The Cubs won 6-2 and the weather stayed perfect all night. I never even put on my jacket even though it was cooler in the evening.

I just got a call from the OG. I'm supposed to work at 10:30 but they informed me that they will be sending me on a delivery after I get there. :D I'd much rather do that than host although, I'll be hosting once I get back from the delivery. If I'm lucky the delivery will be far away and will take me a long time. LOL. I get paid for mileage and sometimes there is a trip charge involved that I get to keep and sometimes a tip. If I'm delivering to a school though, there will be no trip charge or tip. Our OG is involved in a program where kids can earn a free pasta party. I don't know what they have to do to earn it though.

Yesterday at our weekly meeting at the agency they had a rep from Royal Caribbean there to give us a presentation on the new RCI Quantum of the Seas ship that comes out in Fall of 2014. That ship is going to be AMAZING! I don't really know how I feel about ships that big but it's still going to be amazing and lots of people will love it. Here's a link to a video about it. check it out.

Have a great day. :)

Supposed to warm up here today. It's been sunny & pretty nice, but a cold north wind keeping it cool.

Rick ~ I would LOVE to have your rain!! Can you send it my way, please???

Heidi ~ that was NOT me that sent you that email! Shoot, does that mean my email has been hacked? I haven't heard of anyone else getting anything like that. I have never been hacked (that I know of anyway), not sure what to make of this info.

Well, I'm glad I didn't click on the link then. It could be you've been hacked. Try changing your password. That worked for me when I got hacked. It was weird because the link had something to do with a baby crib and with Mallory being pregnant it wouldn't surprise me if you were looking at baby websites. It was the formal signature that made me suspicious. Why would you sign an email to me with, "Best Regards, Susan Elder" unless it was your business email and you have that signature automatically put at the end of all your emails. My business email is like that.

Good evening Cupids,

I decided to take the night off. My lower back has been causing me some problems so taking it easy tonight.

Sue, congrats on the upcoming nuptials.

Heidi, Bettie and I have seen the Texas Rangers play several times. Saw Nolan Ryan pitch against Bo Jackson at the old stadium. We have been to the new stadium a few times.

Rick, glad you are receiving rain. We need it badly. Still experiencing a drought here. Tonight we may get close to freezing. Rare occurrence for May. Will set a new record.

Dave

Morning!

Heidi - yeah, I never use my full name, Susan, except for business correspondence. I much prefer Sue. That's weird that the link was for cribs! Matter of fact, we already bought Greg & Mallory a crib for the baby several months ago, and a matching dresser/changing table.

This grandbaby is going to put me in the poorhouse, I'm afraid! The crib is a fancy convertable one that turns into a toddler bed and then a regular twin bed later, so they won't need to buy another bed when baby outgrows the crib. I also bought Mal a Coach brand diaper bag when we were in Bend last time. For her baby shower, we bought a fancy stroller they had on their baby registry. I'm sure once the baby arrives, I'll be buying outfits too. Since we don't know if it's a boy or girl, I'm waiting until it's born to buy those.

I have a feeling our grandbaby is a boy, but as long as it's healthy, I don't care what it is! When I dream about the baby, it's always a boy in my dreams. I have a pretty good track record of predicting the sex of a baby in my dreams, but I've been wrong a few times too. We'll find out in about 2 months!

Looks like it will be a gorgeous weekend here. Might as well enjoy it cause we can't MAKE it rain.

Good evening Cupids,

It was quite cool here this morning. A frigid 36 and it was near or below freezing in the counties west and north of us. I fear that the peach crop has been ruined.

Sue, a grandson, you will have fun with him on weekends and in the summer.

It will be nice this weekend if not on the cool side. Our normal high for May is low 80s and we will not get out of the 60s. I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Wishing everyone a grand weekend.

Dave

Rick, I have problems with different browsers occasionally and sometimes have to switch back and forth between them. I normally use Firefox but sometimes use Internet Explorer or or Google Chrome.

Today is Staci's last final and then she is done with college. :D These 4 years have gone by so fast. Actually, the last 22 years went by too fast. LOL. I will now be the parent of 2 college graduates. I feel so old. We're going down to Normal on Friday to help her pack up her apartment, then graduation on Saturday.

I went to a baby shower yesterday. Our good friends who live across the street from us, their son and his girlfriend are having a baby. Their son is about 40 years old and still lives with his parents. His girlfriend also lives in our neighborhood and is maybe 35 years old and still lives with her mother. They've been going together for a few years now though and are finally moving into their own place next weekend. The shower was very nice.

The weather is finally decent around here. It's not hot but is normal for May. Highs in the 60's or 70's most days. Everything is finally green.

I hope everyone has a great day. :)

Good afternoon Cupids,

Not much happening around here. Bettie and I had. Nice relaxing weekend. Yesterday, we had dinner at Saltgrass Restaurant. Great place for steaks.

Rick, I can't imagine a business meeting on a Sunday morning. Either they are very busy or had a tee time in the afternoon.:D

Welcome to all the Newpids.

Later,

Dave

I think we are going to do the Cheers program. We normally buy a case of wine for the cabin and drink there as well as the dining room, the show, the casino, well you get the idea. Last night we crunched some numbers and realized that we easily could drink close to $150.00 per day! Cheers will cost us approximately $100.00 so the math works in our favor. We will never drink 15 drinks in a day but wine now costs $8.00 per glass. We also talked about a stretch limo to go to Miami but the "cheapest" was $600.00 so forget it, we will go the night before and stay at the motel. I have no idea where Kay came up with the idea that a limo would be cheaper than the motel. She must have been smoking something on her first day as secretary at the Lodge.

You better not let her see this post, about her "smoking something" she will "bop" you on your head!!!:)

Good Morning!

Today is my long day. I work both jobs.

We sailed with our kids when they were teens but that was several years ago. Neither one of them participated in the organized activities much but they did go to the meet and greets on the 1st night so that they would meet other kids. After that they just hung out with the kids around the ship.

Have a good a day. :)

Quiet morning but then this afternoon we have a play to go to plus dinner afterwards. Our weather is stunning! Low 80s with low humidity, just a few clouds in the sky. The play and dinner is Kay's last function as a member of the board of the women's club at church.

Yesterday corporate announced that their computer program is now compatable with Windows 8 which is what Kay has on her laptop. She is thrilled. She has had to bounce back and forth between her laptop, the laptop at the Lodge which is XP and our home PC which is Windows 7. Yesterday when I came home from the doctor's office she was sitting at the computer desk with both her laptop and the home PC going at the same time next to each other. Now Microsoft has announced that as of next year they will no longer support XP so the Lodge will have to finally buy a new laptop for the secretary (who just happens to be Kay)

Welcome, Canada13 and inlinesick! :D Do come here and post, we will be talking about meet & greets and other activities as the cruise gets closer. You are so welcome to join us for any and all activities even if you aren't booked through the "official" group.

We got a nice little rain last night! Every little bit helps. More storm may be coming tomorrow, which would be very welcome.

Heidi ~ so exciting that Staci is graduating! Will Eric be there for the weekend? That will make a nice Mother's Day for you! Have fun.

We are going to Bend Friday for Mother's Day weekend. The kids have made a reservation for brunch on Sunday at a very nice hotel that does an amazing brunch for Mother's Day. We ate there last year and it was super delish! Dave wants to go look at some property Saturday, we are always thinking about when the right time to sell our place and move to Central Oregon would be. He has found a place he wants to look at. Who knows? Very hard to think about leaving this ranch that's been in his family for 103 years, but it's getting harder to handle all the work, especially the cows, with just the 2 of us. When we do move, we will still put up and sell hay but we won't have the cows anymore.

Still waiting for a test pump of our well to find out how much water we actually have. We can't do anything until we know that. Very frustrating and SLOW!! The test pump people are super busy this time of year and are trying to get to us as soon as they can. Probably another week or so before they can get over here.

Good Afternoon!

The weather is beautiful today. It's sunny and about 80 degrees right now. And the best part is I don't have to work. I know Staci is taking advantage of the good weather to go to the pool at her apartment complex since she only has a few more days there. The pool has actually been open since mid march and it stayed open in the fall until Thanksgiving. they just kept it super heated. There's an outdoor hot tub too.

Heidi ~ so exciting that Staci is graduating! Will Eric be there for the weekend? That will make a nice Mother's Day for you! Have fun.

Yes, Eric will be there and I think his girlfriend will be too. He's lucky he got the day off because that day is Hispanic Mother's Day and they weren't allowed to request the day off. we weren't either but since I never work on Saturday, they didn't schedule me. Hispanic Mother's Day is always on May 10th, no matter what day of the week it is so the restaurants are real busy on that day too, at least is area's where there is a high Hispanic population.

So basically, Staci's graduation will be my Mother's Day since I have to work on Sunday. I have also requested Sunday, May 18th off because our niece is graduation from high school that day. We won't be able to go to the ceremony because they only get 4 tickets (I don't really want to go either) but they will have family back at the house after. Last year when our nephew graduated I had to leave the family gathering and go to work so this year I decided I deserved a Sunday off.

Have a good evening. :)

hmmmm Heidi, May 18th. is a Saturday not a Sunday. I know because that is the day I turn 72 years young!

"Big" day today! We go to the Food Bank for the last time this school year. We want to stock up as much as we can for next season so we've got some people with SUVs coming to load up on as much as we can get. We get to keep canned and sealed food at our distribution center over the summer but anything in paper, or cardboard must be brought to our house for the summer so that critters don't get into it. Of course we also have a backpack drive during the summer so our Florida room is jammed packed with food and backpacks.

We are running a chartered bus to the ELKs youth camp (Named #1 by Ohio State University who ranks all camps) on the 18th. and the couple who are in charge of entertainment and serving dinner are going on it so Kay and I "volunteered" to cover for them that night. At least I know what dessert will be....a birthday sheet cake for me.

Good Morning!

Rick - you are right. That's what I get for trying to count on my fingers what day that Sunday is instead of looking at a calendar. Guess I can't count very well. :o

So like I said before, we are going down to Normal tomorrow to help Staci pack up her apartment but now I don't know when we're going to have time for that. She seems to have our whole day planned out for us. First we are going to a reception at the College of Business from 11:30 AM -1:00 PM Then sometime later that afternoon we are going to a little graduation party that is going to be at another apartment in her complex. Hopefully she has been getting organized this week so that there won't be that much to do. I know she has done at least a little because she found something she thought she had lost. That always happens when you pack up to move. Hmmmm, If we ever mover I wonder if we will find Eric's snake that he lost years ago. LOL

I know I have mentioned before that our kitty is driving us crazy. She meows constantly, often in the middle of the night and sometimes it sounds like she is desperate or in pain. She quiets down as soon as we pay some attention to her but not for long. It could have something to do with losing her sister that we had to put to sleep back in February but I don't really think so since she started acting this way in January. I'm going to call the vet and have her checked out. We also noticed she has lost weight and doesn't eat much but she always acts hungry because just in the past few months she has gotten obsessive about jumping on the kitchen counter searching for food or looking to lick of dirty dishes that might be in the sink. Since she normally eats only hard, dry food it occurred to me that at 16 years old, she could have dental problems that are making it difficult for her to eat the hard food. Dave is the one who normally feeds her and he says she's not eating much at all these days. It dawned on me that maybe she's just hungry. So yesterday I went out and bought some canned food. She's eating that like crazy and it seemed she was a bit quieter last night although, that could be coincidence or wishful thinking. Only time will tell. I'm not giving her a lot of the canned food at a time though because she isn't used to it. Foods she is not used to tend to come back up. So far it seems to be agreeing with her though and she loves it.

I work tonight then off till Sunday, the dreaded Mother's Day! I really hate Mother's Day just because I always have to work and work sucks because of how busy we are. Have a great day. :)
