Dave ... I understand your concern on drinking too early ... I talked to "Jack" and he asked to give him a guesstimate of people he'll have the grill and alcohol stocked for us! :D

Kathy and Frank, who are also from OKC area, are sharing a cabana with Bettie and I in the village. Should be a nice relaxing morning. The ship leaves early and I've heard that the line gets very long.

I am wondering if any one is from KY that is sailing on the Breeze with the Cupids.

I am thinking about booking the 6 day Feb. 23 instead of heading back on the 23rd.

I have not bought our airline tickets yet, so I really need to decide soon.

I am thinking since we are cruising out of Miami, may as well stretch the airfare and get 14 days instead of 8.

Is there anyone doing the Feb 23 sailing also?

I don't know about anyone from Kentucky but I think we may have a couple of people in the group that are doing back to back. I don't think they post here often though and i don't know if they are doing the week before or the week after.

This cruise can't come fast enough ... is anyone else doing Jack's Shack in Grand Turk?

I think we are so that would be 2 of us and I think maybe Sue and Dave might join us.

Awesome, I'll double check closer to the time of the cruise so I can let "Jack" know. Dave - I haven't been there in years so I'm not sure about the lines. The last time we were there there wasn't a line, but Jack's Shack has become more popular over the years so who knows. :-\

Yes, I'm thinking Jack's Shack is what we will do, so that is 2 more for the list, as Heidi said, Sue & Dave.

Slowly feeling better, but the cough is really hanging on! Our next home game isn't until November 16, so if I'm not fine by then, I'll just give up! :p

Most of our snow is gone, but the lawn is still pretty white. It should melt off today, it's going to warm up again. I am SO not ready for winter!!!

Ryan, I was referring to the line to return to the ship. Allot of people wait until the last minute to return. We need to be back on ship by 1:30.

It's raining here today. Expect some serious stuff later. Just hope we don't receive any hail.

Sue, glad you are feeling a little bit better.

Whenever we are in a port where we can see the ship and the line from quite a ways away, we always just find someplace to wait until the line goes down before getting in it. In Grand Cayman there was a huge line for the tenders so we just kept shopping in the stores that were right across the street and kept an eye on the line. Once we saw that it was short then we got in it. Even if it's getting close to sailing you can be sure that the ship is not going to leave as long as there is a line. In some ports there a bar like Fat Tuesday's or something that you can relax at while you wait for the line to go down. Just don't drink too much and forget to watch the line. LOL

Hi Cupids Janet and are back from living on our boat for5 months. Tough work but some one has to do it. We kind of stay off the grid for the 5 months we cruise the Great Lakes. No computer or cell phones. I have been trying to read up on everything but its and a long task. Do we have a meet and greet yet? Anything i can join or help out with? Thanks for having us back. Cant wait to see you all again

Dave - Oops, my bad ... We usually get to the dock about 30 mins before we debark and you can see the ship from Jack's Shack ... it's only about a black and a half from the pier. Heidi - Jack's Shack is really close to the dock. You can also snorkel at Jack's Shack ... right by the ship!

Good Morning!

Today was my last day of physical therapy. Now for the hard part, keeping up with the exercises.

Tomorrow my dad does his Honor Flight. I'm sure you've heard about the Honor Flight's for the World War II vets where they fly to Washington and visit the memorial. Well, my Dad was not WWII but he was in the Korean War and they are now doing the Honor Flights for them. We will go meet him at the Milwaukee airport when he returns tomorrow night. I just spoke with my sister though and found out that for a while last night they didn't think my dad was going to be able to go. She got a call from him about 10:30 last night asking her to take him to the emergency room. His blood pressure had sky rocketed and we was nauseated and dizzy. They ran all kinds on tests and it turned out to be an inner ear infection so they gave him antibiotics and sent him home. The doctor said he could fly tomorrow so it's a go.

Have a great weekend. :)

Heidi, Glad to hear that your dad is going to DC to see the Memorial. It's such an honor to know that he served our country. Hope he has a good time and a good flight. I hope my FIL will do this one of these days. He was in WWII in the Pacific. Can't get him on a cruise even though I think he would enjoy the Alaska Cruise.

Joymaker, welcome back to the 21st Century. LOL I'm sure there will be a Meet and Greet but nothing specific yet.

Ryan, have fun at Jack's. Looks like a fun place.

It has finally cooled off here and we will be in the 60s this weekend. Love this weather.

Later,

Dave

Heidi, that's really cool about your dad's Honor Flight. Hope he is well enough to go today. Please thank him for his service to our country!

I'm feeling much better now, thank goodness. Yesterday was the first time I got out of my jammies all week! I still have a bit of a cough, but at least I feel pretty good.

I'm glad to hear about the snorkeling at Jack's Shack. I love to snorkel, but Dave doesn't at all. I even own my own snorkel & a mask with my prescription lenses in it. Snorkeling from shore works well because Dave can hang out onshore while I do my Flipper thing!

Joymaker, we will most likely meet up after muster drill on the aft deck for sailaway. We like to meet in the Atrium Lounge each evening around 7 for pre-or-post dinner cocktails (or just visiting if you don't want a drink). There's been talk of a cabin crawl. We usually gather in the Atrium on embarkation day to day hi as everyone gets on the ship.

Have a good weekend! No Duck football today, which makes me sad. We play at Stanford on Thursday night. Will be our biggest game of the year so far. Ducks are #2 & Stanford is #5, so it's a huge game for both. GO DUCKS!!

Don't forget to "Fall Back" & set your clocks back an hour tonight!

Sue, glad to hear that you are feeling better. One of our local college teams cinched a bowl game this week. Not a big bowl but any bowl for UNTs Mean Green is good.

We saw the movie Captain Phillips tonight. It's a very good movie.

Later, Dave

Good Afternoon!

The welcome home for my dad last night was wonderful. I have posted a video on Facebook. I couldn't believe how many people were there. Many people came early with their lawn chairs and pretty much camped out to get a good viewing spot. I found out sometime during the evening that one reason there were so many people was because one of the 2 planes was supposed to go last month but it was postponed due to the government shut down. If it hadn't been for that then there would have been only one plane last night so it wouldn't have been as crazy. At first we couldn't get up close and had a hard time watching for my dad but then a group of people who had been in front of us left when their relative went by so we were then able to move up into their spot right along the rope. My dad and his escort were on of the last to come through.

I am having a rare, quiet day home alone right now. Dave went to a gun show with one of his buddies, Staci is at work and Eric was out of town this weekend. He might be home any time though. I have to work in a couple of hours anyway.

Our kitty is still with us but still refusing to eat and is getting weaker and skinnier every day. She is still walking though and drinking water and using the litter box. I don't see how she can last much longer. I doubt that she weighs more than 4 pounds. :(

Have a good day.

I'm tracking Marathon Dave and he has completed 30K in 5:08:45. Not sure how far he is going.

Heidi, saw the pic on FB yesterday. Hope he had a good time. I'll go back and find the video.

Quiet day here. Taking Bettie out for her birthday later.

I am such an idiot. I thought the NYC Marathon was yesterday. When we were in the car going up to my sister's house, I looked David up on the app and his name came up but with no info so I just assumed there was a glitch and I wouldn't be able to track him. Then it wasn't until I was watching the news tonight that I realized that the marathon was today. :o

Heidi, David posted that he finished the marathon but injured his back. No other information. Guess he'll post later.

Heidi, I'm so sorry about your kitty. It's so hard to watch a pet go downhill when you know their life is coming to the end. :(

Sorry to hear that Marathon Dave hurt his back in the race.

Cruisin Dave, hope you and Bettie had a nice dinner for her birthday! I saw your post on Facebook that you took her out for birthday dinner. :)

We got all our Fall cow work done, so now it will be pretty quiet around here until Spring. The cows have to be fed hay every day, and once the weather gets colder, Dave will feed them twice a day. If it gets below zero, ice has to be chopped in the creeks so they can get water to drink. Not much else going on in the winter months.

My body is still on old time. I get hungry for lunch at 11, and dinner at 4. I normally eat dinner early anyway, usually 5:30 our so. My kids make fun of me & my "early bird special" mealtime, but if I don't, then I start eating junk food!

Joymaker, we didn't cruise with the Cupids until the second cruise, so it will be nice to meet you.

Sue, Bettie and I had a good time at Saltgrass. We both had the Top Sirloin with the baked sweet potato. We like this restaurant. It's part of the Landry chain. It's named after the Salt grass that cattle were grazed on along the coast. I think you and Dave would like it. Lots of western items and mounted heads on the wall.

My mistake We were all on the Freedom together Sorry

OH! Well, then we've already met, perhaps? My memory is getting so terrible! Will be nice to see you guys and get reacquainted.

We have a meeting with our accountant today. That means a 250 mile round trip. Not super excited about it, but we have some things we need to discuss with him. There are closer accountants in Lakeview, but this guy has been doing the ranch taxes for 30 years and is very good.

Dave - that does sound like a restaurant we would love! Glad you and Bettie had a nice time. Salt grass grows on our place in areas where there is a lot of alkali in the soil, but our cows don't like it much. They eat everything else first and only resort to the salt grass when nothing else is there. But it makes for an interesting name for a restaurant!

Sue, 250 mile round trip.:( Not a fun trip if you are doing it in one day. Hopefully there is a nice restaurant at the turn around point and the accountant is buying. Hope you are feeling better.

Joymaker, looking forward to meeting you.

It's been raining here off and on all day. Cooler temps are on the way and there may be some places in the 30s.

Dave
