Just read on FB from JH that the waiters are now dancing to " What did the Fox say". Not sure if this will last very long. I wish they would bring back Hot Hot Hot! What do you think about the dancing during dinner.

Dave, can you believe I've never heard the "Fox" song????? I've seen lots of comments on Facebook about how annoying it is. Guess I'll find out for myself if the waiters are still doing it when we cruise!

 

I kind of like the waiter dancing and singing, but I don't really have strong feelings about it one way or the other. It's kind of cute, but I'm not sure I'd miss it too much if they stopped doing it either.

 

I did check my flights and so far they haven't changed at all. That's one thing I like about SWA, I've never had them change a flight on me.

Sue, the group that perform the Fox song is from Norway and have a big following in Europe. They we on the Today show last month. The younger generation likes it.

 

I check our flights about once a week. AA changed our flight to Miami once and I change it to an earlier flight. So far no more changes.

John, the boat show is downtown and any hotel around Bayside will be close. We are staying at the Intercontinental. I believe Kendall is near Homestead and south of Miami.

SO COLD here!! 5 degrees yesterday morning, and 4 degrees early this morning. Beautiful sunshine, but COLD.

 

A male teacher who was my kids' p.e. teacher in elementary school was arrested yesterday in a different school district in Oregon for sexual charges against a student. So upsetting. He's been gone from Lakeview for a long time, but he was a very likeable guy. No details have come out, so we don't know exactly what the accusation is. What's extra weird is that a couple of years ago, a former principal from when my kids were in high school was charged and convicted of sexual misconduct and is currently in prison for it. We knew that guy was a weirdo that no one liked. Our school district and town are so tiny, it's very weird to have 2 former employees charged in this manner. What's extra weird is that both of these guys were employed at the same high school near Bend as well, although this latest had moved on from there to another town in Oregon not far from Bend.

Sue, it's not in the single digits here but we are in the 30s with a wind chill in the 20s. Yesterday at this time it was in the mid 70s.

Sue - your story reminds me of one about Staci's old gymnastics instructor. she had him when she was only 4 years old and she really liked home. Once she turned 5 she graduated to the "Big" gym and had different instructors. A few years later the teacher from the pre school gym was arrested for child molestation. The accusations came from other students of his. He claimed he was innocent but plead guilty because he was afraid he wouldn't win and might end up going to prison even longer. With the guilty plea he got 4 years. Fast forward a few years. He had been released form prison and there was an article in our paper that said he'd been arrested AGAIN on child molestation charges. Staci was too young to remember much about him as her teacher and I don't really think anything happened because with the pre school kids there were always parents watching through the glass. The students who accused him were older ones that he coached on the gymnastics team and Staci was never on the team, she just rook lessons. Still, it really freaked me out when I first heard about it. Then a few years later an instructor that she had had when she was older was arrested for possession of child pornography. I know I also told you just a few months ago about the guy that I worked with at the OG that was arrested for possession of child porn. There are so many sick people in the world.

 

The new Carnival brochures are out. I have one. I don't know if Carnival is sending them out to the general public yet but they are being sent to the travel agencies.

 

My sister just booked a 12 night Mediterranean cruise on the Celebrity Equinox for May. She wants us to go with them but there's no way we can do a cruise like that only 3 months after our Breeze cruise. Maybe if they were just doing a 7 night Caribbean we could somehow manage but not a 12 night in Europe. Air fare alone was over $1100.00 a person. I was kind of hoping they'd wait a bit longer to go and maybe then we could join them but I don't think she wanted to wait that long. My BIL recently had a medical episode that he almost didn't survive (his heart actually stopped). He's fine now but I think they have realized that they should travel while they are still healthy and not wait. I can certainly understand that.

 

It's kind of cold again here but normal temps for this time of year.

We're back from our cruise on Brilliance of the Seas. I do not understand why in the world we picked the shortest 7 day week of all time to cruise...at least it never felt like a full week. I hooked up with another roll call here on CC and that group numbered 131 at the meet and mingle. RCI does a nice job......the cruise director raffled off a few prizes and they set up a very nice appetizer bar for the group. We did a cabin crawl but let me make a recomendation. They set this up so that the cabins were all at opposite ends of the ship. Way too much walking! (My second epidural shot wore off the day before the cruise so I had to use a cane.) However, on the bright side we did a poker run in conjunction with the cabin crawl and I won $40.00 for the worst hand! We went with a group from our church and there were cocktail parties evening except the last night...we ended up bringing two bottles of wine back home.

We had a little ice but nothing like they originally forecasted. Most of the ice is on the trees and it's now melting.

Rick, glad to hear that you had a good cruise. I agree about RCCLs handling of Meet & Greets. Wish Carnival would step up and do something similar. I also then RCCLs perks are allot better.

Good Afternoon!

 

I went to the podiatrist today. My foot had been really hurting me for the past 6 weeks or so. It's making working at the OG almost unbearable. he said it's tendonitis and gave me a brace to wear. he says it's most likely caused from my bad ankle that i broke about 20 years ago. I might need surgery eventually but will try and make it better with the brace first. He also suggested physical therapy. You might remember I just finished physical thereapy for my back. I really don't want to do it for my foot yet. We still haven't paid the bill from my back yet. :rolleyes:

 

It's cold here. It hasn't been out of the 20's for a couple of days now. My electric blanket crapped out on me last night so I have to go buy another one.

 

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. we will go to Dave's brother's house and my dad will come with us. I have to prepare food though. I'm making au graten potatoes and a cranberry salad. I will be off from the OG Wednesday through Saturday.

 

Off to work now. We'll see if this brace is going to help. Have a good night.

Heidi......Did you ever hear of SAS shoes? They are made in Sanantio ? TX. I walked a beat for a number of years so when I retired someone told me about them. I have been wearing them for 20 years now. They really helped my feet. They are ugly and are fairly costly but they work wonders.

I have heard of SAS. I have seen their ads so I think there is a store in our area. The problem is I need special slip and oil resistant shoes. Darden requires all employees to wear them so I'm limited on what I can buy. Stores like Payless and Walmart carry them but they usually aren't leather and I will only wear leather. Stores like JC Penney, Sears and DSW used to carry a Reebok that I loved but then Reebok discontinued that shoe. They came out with a replacement but the new one didn't come in a wide width which I prefer to wear for work. I have purchased my last 2 pairs from a company called Shoes for Crews. They are an on line company that only makes slip and oil resistant shoes for restaurant and hospital workers. I can order them and they will deliver them to my restaurant and I don't have to pay for them all at once. The cost is taken right out of my paycheck in 5 equal payments. I bought a new pair when my foot first started hurting because I thought the pain might have been caused but my shoes being kind of old and worn down. The new shoes didn't help though.

Getting excited to see the kids! We'll go to Bend tomorrow, Thanksgiving is at Greg and Mallory's. I'm taking the stuffing, which I do in a casserole, not in the turkey. My candied sweet potatoes, and my Gramma's yummy chocolate pie, which is the richest pie ever! It's kind of a French silk chocolate pie.

 

We normally stay in a hotel while in Bend, because both of the kids had a regular double bed as a guest bed. We are so used to our king size bed, we just can't sleep in a double or even a queen very well together. I decided to buy a new air mattress that is as tall as a regular mattress. I'll let Dave have the guest bed, and I'll sleep on the air mattress, and we'll stay with Brian and Staci. Greg and Mal got rid of their guest bed when they had Lily, to make the guest room into the nursery. Dave hates air mattresses but i don't mind them, so we'll see how this works.

Sue, enjoy your trip to the kids. We will be without kids Thanksgiving but will see them over the weekend.

The sun finally came out today. It's very blustery and cool but at least we have some sun. First time in about 6 days.

Heidi, hope your visit to the foot doctor gave you some relief. Seems like foot problems are a problem lots of people have as we get a little older. Mine aren't too terrible yet, but I have started noticing my feet get very sore when I'm standing or walking a lot. I have insoles that help, but I'm to the point where I need some better ones when I know I'm going to be on my feet a long time or walking & standing a lot. The ones I have are just cheapies. I love wearing flip flops, but they don't love me anymore so much! I can still wear them, but not for long days of walking like I used to be able to do.

 

Dave has to feed the cows this morning, and then we'll head to Bend. We should get there in time for lunch. Greg has today off work, so we'll be able to hang out with him and Lily all day! Brian is taking of from work early too, so we should see him by mid afternoon. The girls both work until 6 tonight. Excited to see all of them!!
