heavenlysea Posted April 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Which is best way to see turtles-small group catamaran like calabaza or just go to one of the recommended beaches by taxi and see them from there? Thanks
aimodels Posted April 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2012 It depends on what you want to spend your money on... A short booze cruise is generally 3 hours, runs about $40 pp and will take you to feed turtles and maybe see the shipwrecks in Carlisle Bay. A 5 hour cruise will run you $80-$100 pp and you'll get a yummy lunch out of the deal, plus the wrecks and turtles and some free time to swim in the ocean (either Batts Rock, Paynes Bay or Carlisle). The advantage of a cat cruise is that the crew are in the water with you and they bring along bait to attract the turtles. If you swim from shore, look for where the cat's are gathered and you can see the turtles also. If there are no cat's, there's a chance that the turtles have taken off and you may or may not see any... If you're like me and REALLY enjoy your rum and beer, the $100 special is the way to go, IMO. If you're on a budget or just want to save some cash, do the taxi thing. Generally, the mornings are the best time to see turtles - try and get there before 9 or 10. Cheers, P:)
heavenlysea Posted April 23, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for the reply. We're not drinkers-I'll be OK with one/two rum punch. We do enjoy snorkeling and are leaning toward one of the 5 hour tours.
