renech Posted April 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2012 hi, this sounds silly, but how does a formal night differ from normal nights, i know people wearing tuxs, etc cheers I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but in general, the dinners are formal - although as has been discussed here in many, MANY threads ;) - what constitutes "formal" can vary widely. There is a Captain's Reception in the promenade (on ships that have them) where the Capt. makes a speech and they hand out complimentary glasses of champagne. There are also a lot more photographers set up for formal portraits in various locations. Many people skip all the formalities and eat in other venues on those evenings. The option is yours to do whatever you prefer.
myndos Posted April 22, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted April 22, 2012 hi what i trying to get, is if you go to the mdr on a formal night, what the diffrence ie are the capt and officers there is the menu different,is there music etc cheers
TxKroozer Posted April 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Menu is slightly different. Prime rib and lobster are likely. No officers necessarily unless captain chooses that evening to dine. As stated before it likely includes a pre dinner captains cocktail event on first formal evening.
wales4ever Posted April 22, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2012 No great difference apart from the occasion, and some free drinks on the first formal night.
