hi, this sounds silly,but how does a formal night differ from normal nights, i know people wearing tuxs,etc cheers

 

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but in general, the dinners are formal - although as has been discussed here in many, MANY threads ;) - what constitutes "formal" can vary widely. There is a Captain's Reception in the promenade (on ships that have them) where the Capt. makes a speech and they hand out complimentary glasses of champagne. There are also a lot more photographers set up for formal portraits in various locations.

 

Many people skip all the formalities and eat in other venues on those evenings. The option is yours to do whatever you prefer.

Menu is slightly different. Prime rib and lobster are likely. No officers necessarily unless captain chooses that evening to dine. As stated before it likely includes a pre dinner captains cocktail event on first formal evening.
