Gratuities for Tours not through the ship

Just a question regarding what kind of Gratuities you give for tours arranged outside the ship. I know that seems like a silly question but not sure if the cost includes gratuity or not and if not what guidelines people use. In addition, if you did tip do you give dollars or the local currency? Thanks for the information

If not included in the excursion price, and service was good...I tip 15% of the tour total for our group, in USD.

If service was great, and we have a blast on the tour, I tip a little over the 15%. If tip is included and service was great...I tip a little extra.

US dollars are fine anywhere. I also tip according to how I feel the service was.

I got great attention from a horseback guide in Jamaica and gave him a big tip. He was so sweet. Tried to teach me the patois. And didn't laugh too much at my riding ability.

If someone seems to be really making an effort to go out of their way for you, I tip generously.

If it is so, so service; I tip so, so.
