Kaphis Posted April 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Hello, Just wanted to note, I just got off the phone with an NCL agent regarding the "Best Price Guarantee" and some clarification. If you booked a guarantee category room and they assigned a room with-in 48 hours of booking, you are not eligible for the 48 hour price guarantee. No refund and no OBC. She said "Best Price Guarantee" does not apply to guarantee category cabins. It caused some confusion and my TA managed to get me a upgrade from B3 to B2 from a BX but I lost $300 because I booked 36 hours too early. Lesson learned I guess. DevCruise Posted April 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2012 This is on the Terms and Conditions tab of the NCL website: To qualify for the on-board credit, your "Best Price. Guaranteed." claim form must be submitted online within 48 hours of making a fully deposited booking. NCL reserves the right to verify all claims. Go to ncl.com to submit a "Best Price. Guaranteed." claim. Fully complete the "Best Price. Guaranteed." Claim Form by providing all requested information, including the lower rate amount and where it can be found. The lower rate must be (a) for the same ship, sail date, stateroom category and number of guests, and (b) available for booking at the time NCL reviews your completed claim form. Restrictions: available to full individual tariff bookings with deposited cruise fare only; claims must be submitted at least 7 days prior to sailing; guarantee offer does not apply to government fees and taxes and/or fuel supplement (if applicable); lower rates must be publicly advertised fares available to the general public; guarantee offer is not combinable with an NCL fare reduction; guarantee offer excludes: rates from TV and Radio ads, group rates, qualified rates, membership programs, charters or other travel agent promotions not offered by Norwegian Cruise Line to the general public. Offer "does not apply to stateroom guarantees and" excludes travel agent discounts off commission. The on-board credit is non-refundable, non-transferable and has no cash value. Any unused portion of the on-board credit will be forfeited. "Best Price. Guaranteed." program may be discontinued or changed at any time.

I searched all over the forums and could't find this information so I figured I should make a thread so that its at least in the archives. I will put your post in the OP as well for those that might be looking for it. Edit: Nevermind, can't edit opening post. Close enough to the top anyways :) I was grateful that I got ungraded from one room to another still but just something to be aware of for those that are considering stateroom guarantees. willysgrandma Posted April 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2012 To be honest with you, I don't understand the best price guarantee anyway. If prices drop, NCL usually will apply the price drop as long as it isn't for new bookings only and your cruise isn't paid in full. Or allow an upgrade. It seems to me that the guarantee is only relevant to those who book at or after final payment date.

I always felt like the guarantee was there to help NCL catch those advertising rates below NCL's published rated.

willysgrandma Posted April 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 27, 2012 I wish that were true. There are so many ways that agencies can get around that, such as by combining air and cruise quote, they can claim if cornered that they didn't discount the cruise, they discounted the air. As an agent. my husband has shown our Royal Caribbean rep. agencies selling below RCCL's price and his BDM has turned a blind eye to it. If the cruise lines truly did stop it, it would even make it easier for passengers booking on their own not having to try to figure out ways to find agencies that are discounting so they can book. I always felt like the guarantee was there to help NCL catch those advertising rates below NCL's published rated.
Rare ttnc4me Posted April 28, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks for the information. So, the question is, if you book a GTY and are assigned a room, are you then able to pricematch the booked room's category?
