aussie mim Posted May 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2012 Hey guys, looking for our next cruise, was thinking radiance of seas, rhapsody or celebrity soltice, royal Caribbean looks like a lot of fun but celebrity ship looks amazing, So what I really want to know because celebrity is such a high class ship, is it only for the older set, or will there be a good rang of ages. We are all in our 40s and 50s but are a very fun loving party type of people. The other question is the cruise goes to Suva and lautoka in Fiji what is there to do , Ive never heard of lautoka and there is nothing in the shore tours yet, who has gone celebrity before and can you tell me anything about the drinks package.... callmewhatever Posted May 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Haven't been on either of thoese lines yet (RCI) next yr tho. So if I had to pick I think it would come down to price. I've been to Suva (hated it) but not to Lautoka, so can't help you there.
avalon007 Posted May 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2012 We just finished a cruise on Radiance, a lovely ship, I just posted some pics in another thread here http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1629356 She has lots of glass so ocean views are everywhere & she had a refirb last year so has a lot of the extra restaurants etc. We are in our 40's & found the majority of cruisers to be 30-60 age group. Quite a few kids onboard though, but we hardly saw them except in the main pool area, but Radiance has a covered solarium pool for adults only which is nice. Haven't been on celebrity sorry, but the images I have seen of the cabins & public areas didn't look that much different to Radiance, although I'm sure others who have sailed on both can offer a better comparison. THANX I have cruised on Celebrity 3 times and booked to go on Solstice next year to Hawaii. I am in my middle 50's. The age of the cruisers often depend on the itinary and the time of the year. When we were in the Med in June the ages were very much younger - many late teens and their parents. In the Baltic in May the ages were older. In Feb this year the ages were again older but there is always a range of ages in all cruises. I would not call celebrity the "fun" ships but they are elegant with good staff and food - very relaxing. I don't know about the ports from a cruise perceptive. The drinks packages are good as you pay upfront and then do not have to pay for your drinks. The drinks are not expensive compared to Syd prices - a Gin and Tonic ( in Feb) was US$6.90, so was whisky sour, a beer was 6.90 (I think)a cappachino was about $5.50 (I found the regular coffee in the dining rooms undrinkable).
